(Have just seen this on facebook so sharing)

This rally, hosted by Labour Women’s Declaration supporters in London, will call on Labour MPs to speak up in defence of campaign groups Woman’s Place UK and the LGB Alliance.

Both organisations challenge extremist gender identity ideology by saying that sex is real and matters. They campaign in support of Labour’s 2019 manifesto commitment to enforcing sex-based rights, but incredibly have been branded ‘hate groups’ in pledges by lobby groups signed by most of Labour’s leader and deputy leader candidates. One of the pledges calls for supporters of WPUK and LGB Alliance to be expelled. .

Like the many Labour supporters who took to Twitter to say #Expelme, we stand in solidarity with Woman's Place UK and the LGB Alliance and ask the Labour Party to expel us or defend us!
Speakers
Julie Bindel – Journalist
Lucy Masoud – Trade unionist and feminist
Paul Embery – Trade unionist
Debbie Hayton – Transwoman and activist
Lachlan Stuart - former Labour Party policy advisor
Kiri Tunks - Woman's Place UK
Bev Jackson – LGB Alliance

Any profits from the sale of tickets go to The NIA Project delivering cutting edge services to end violence against women.

Venue will be confirmed by email on the day.

Thank you! Flowers

I really want to go - needs a show of support or nothing will change.
I'm going to try to build up my nerve.

nonsenceagain · 24/02/2020 15:21

Got my tickets 🙂

The lead time seems a bit short for a Monday rally which is a shame.

I suspect this is more to do with putting presure on the Labour Leadership election. I think voting has already started.

But good that a group of women in Labour feel strongly enough to make this public stance.

(Would be interesting if there was an update on the legal challenge to Labour over AWS.)

But worth remembering that in terms of HoC Labour is sort of irrelevant. Need to keep up the pressure on Tories.

I'm going to go. It's a bit of a trek but I need to support this.

Babdoc · 25/02/2020 08:12

I’m a Tory, but even I want to send my moral support for this one. I hope there’s a good turn out and lots of media coverage. Although I suspect the Grauniad and BBC will either sweep it under the rug or label
it a hate movement!

TheRealMcKenna · 25/02/2020 08:50

I would vote Labour if Paul Embery was the leader.

Cwenthryth · 25/02/2020 13:37

I’m sure supporters of all political parties (and none) would be welcome - it’s about showing solidarity for women, lesbians, gay men and bisexual men & women not being discriminated against for their beliefs on sex and gender. This threat is from the Labour Party in its members, but it could well be another party next.

I’ve got my ticket and booked the day off :-)

Chiochan · 25/02/2020 20:42

Got my ticket! Hoping there will be a bunch of us from NLondon CLPs Grin

Cwenthryth · 25/02/2020 21:34

Oh yes - it will be an excellent networking opportunity come to think of it
