For saying ‘males aren’t women’

Fuck this shit. I’m so angry.

Does anyone else almost ( almost ) feel sorry for, and wince at the thought of these high prominent people having to dial back once they realise they have got the general electorate so wrong and try to placate? The TRAs will be after them and their former voters who they discarded so willingly will be laughing at them. Everyone else will just be thinking WTF by them? They’re going to get annihilated.

Ah well, at least they’ll have likes on Twitter, seemingly the most important platform since voting existed Hmm

SisyphusLangClegRocks · 21/02/2020 01:52

I got banned for calling someone a bloke (yes, really)

IfNot · 21/02/2020 02:05

I got deleted on Mumsnet for calling someone a bloke, so..

tobee · 21/02/2020 02:32

When people say "trans women are women" etc etc. you know someone must have told them so. You couldn't come up with that as independent thought

tobee · 21/02/2020 02:33

And when someone told you that, why would even begin to believe them?

waterlego · 21/02/2020 06:07

Was full of rage last night but you lot have given me a boost. Pleased to see that I’m in such good company on the naughty step! Thanks all.

For what ot’s worth, I try to avoid jumping in on any massive thread that’s accumulated large numbers of posters. If 48 people will be shown my tweet, then there’s a much higher chance of an asshole seeing it.

GFhuman · 21/02/2020 06:26

Same here. I got a twitter ban for saying truth isn't hate speech. Well clearly to twitter and those who want to pretend to be something they are not, it is. But no matter. I'm still keeping up the fight. And twitter was only a tiny part of that. It's what happens in real life that counts. And the tide is turning.

Catsfriend · 21/02/2020 06:41

I think we tend to forget that Twitter is Twitter and that outside Twitter opinions are very different.

GFhuman · 21/02/2020 06:59

I think we tend to forget that Twitter is Twitter and that outside Twitter opinions are very different.

As demonstrated by the recent failure of the labour party. Voter's care more about jobs, work, housing, the effects of poverty, then they do about woke gender identity politics.

MedusasButterDish · 21/02/2020 07:37

The trouble with consoling ourselves that "it's only twitter" is that law is being brought in on the back of this activism, without democratic scrutiny or agreement. It really does matter that twitter deletes and bans people who are speaking the truth.

Catting · 21/02/2020 07:44

Been suspended recently too, for saying men can't become women by performance.
I won't give them my phone number so can't get back in.

It's pointless being on there anyway as a woman, because you will be silenced and removed for not pretending to believe this shit.

Kit19 · 21/02/2020 07:47

Exactly Medusa - yes of course in real life the vast majority of ppl are more concerned about housing and jobs and money, it’s exactly why the TRA operate the way they do. They don’t want what they’re doing to be out in the sunlight

It if it’s ‘only Twitter’ but twitter is where academics, policy makers, politicians, journalists, charity chief execs and celebrities hang out. They all talk to each other, and they have influence

That’s part of how things get pushed forward

And no I doubt the ppl who live in my road for example think trans issues are important but I bet if I said to them woman is effectively been reclassified to mean men as well so goodbye single sex anything they would be very much bothered

Criticallythinking · 21/02/2020 08:10

I’m an academic on twitter who lurks when it comes to this topic because I would be too afraid of the repercussions if I gave any indication of what I really felt! So whilst it may appears that lots of academics are with the TRA I suspect there are lots more like me too afraid to express their true views because their workplaces are pushing the line that there is no negotiation on this and we must accept it. So in short we are there and listening and just can’t join in. So keep going please Smile

waterlego · 21/02/2020 08:30

AnyOld That hadn’t even occurred to me! I only vaguely know how Twitter works really, so it’s really useful to know that, thanks.

I was banned for saying Yaniv is a manipulative m**. 🤷‍♀️
Oh that thread for Warren someone tweeted:
"cisgendering is misgendering" , Gonna keep that in my pocket.

Qcng · 21/02/2020 11:03

Dies anyone know what Lewis Mooney said to get him banned?
He was one of the few very high profile GC ppl out there.
It's criminal he got banned

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 21/02/2020 11:05

I’m not sure but I’m guessing it was along the lines of the truth.

WhereYouLeftIt · 21/02/2020 13:33

I'm another who'd love to know what Mooney said. That man seriously gives no fucks Grin (and I love him for that).
