Its becoming more mainstream talking point

Just heard richard madeley talking to dawn butler i think on this morning, specifically asking about biological differences. He even said penis. Its about time this topic was given some daylight, the general public need some true understanding of what is being proposed.

OP posts:
SnuggyBuggy · 17/02/2020 07:12

I think a lot of members of the public simple don't realise the anatomy of many transwomen.

MindTheMinotaur · 17/02/2020 07:15

The BBC are noticeably articulating the gender critical position far more in articles. I assume they understand a backlash is coming and are protecting themselvees.

Modwolvesrock · 17/02/2020 07:18

I saw the interview, it was on GMB.
Richard Madeley on today instead of Piers. Apparently the subject will be discussed tomorrow.

MindTheMinotaur · 17/02/2020 07:20

True snuggy. I think on a thread on here yesterday some posters were assuming that a GRC=no penis.

Languishingfemale · 17/02/2020 07:24

Hopefully GMB will get a balanced set of opinions with the GC position clearly explained? There are enough good speakers out there at the moment.

SnuggyBuggy · 17/02/2020 07:32

Or else I've spoken to people who seem to think a bit of oestrogen treatment "deactivates" it.

testing987654321 · 17/02/2020 07:37

I've spoken with people who were saying "but what if they are nine-tenths female?" and others who say trans women meaning woman who has transitioned to a man.

The levels of ignorance about the basics of this issue are so high that most general discussion is pointless.

testing987654321 · 17/02/2020 07:38

But welcome and needed obviously.

SnuggyBuggy · 17/02/2020 07:39

Do you not feel its deliberate that there is a load of confusing language and wooly concepts? It's pretty convenient that much of the general public struggles to understand and follow this

Catting · 17/02/2020 07:43

Agree @SnuggyBuggy . Especially when people refuse to even acknowledge the fact these Male bodied people are Male. All this "starting from the position that TWAW" and then talking like we are discussing the banning of ginger women from rape centers. It's deliberately confusing.

All TWAW means is 'men are women if they say they are' - and the self-ID proponents know this.

So to translate: "starting from the position that men are women if they say they are..." - it all sounds a bit like bollocks, doesn't it?

But YY most people think that a transwoman is a male transsexual who has had their penis removed. Also bollocks.

RuffleCrow · 17/02/2020 09:03

If GMB and the BBC are now allowing GC views it's only because a PIE - style super-scandal is about to be exposed and they don't want to look complicit (again). The way this issue has been buried, misconstrued and misrepresented by msm over the past 3-4 years has shaken my faith in these institutions to the core. How can i trust anything they say when they'll promote the lie that night is day given enough financial incentive?

teawamutu · 17/02/2020 09:07

What was the fragrant Dawn's response? Deep breath and recite the mantra?

DickKerrLadies · 17/02/2020 09:09

As an aside, I would like to thank whoever the FWR poster was that taught me the term 'reverse ferret'.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 17/02/2020 09:10

The BBC used to be trusted not just in the UK but all over the world. I once went to a talk where an activist for East Timor said he'd heard something on the BBC and initially thought, that can't be right, but then thought, and I quote, "the BBC is never wrong".

Money can't buy that kind of trust, and once lost it's very hard to regain.

ploofyorangebats · 17/02/2020 09:20

Sky news also had 2 GC people in, I'm sorry I can't remember who, to review the papers at around midnight. Both were very articulate and succinct about the issues presented in the articles they were discussing. The presenter appeared to be on edge and ended their discussion saying it's a very delicate topic and others may disagree strongly with their perspective. Refreshing nonetheless to have it aired and issues questioned.

I only wish it had been at a more mainstream time of day. It does appear there feels to be more of a push back within media outlets recently.

ThinEndoftheWedge · 17/02/2020 09:20

All this "starting from the position that TWAW"

This seems to be a deliberate - possibly new -double speak strategy obfuscating the fact that TW are men to confuse the public about the reality of what they are trying to implement.

Makes in female spaces.

Any other man stating they want unfettered access to female spaces would be given short shrift by the public - But if these men are trans women who are also women- it’s brave and stunning.

Not to the 14 year old girl who is forced to undress in front of a man

BINtersectionalFeminism · 17/02/2020 09:28

DickKerrLadies it was probably RedToothBrush.

RuffleCrow me too. I now wonder what other topics they’re not covering properly or pushing a line on but it’s only when you know a topic in depth that you realise what’s going on.

OhHolyJesus · 17/02/2020 09:28

Prodigal is right, I've had similar experience in Easy Africa. The BBC still represents truth all over the world, particularly where there are biased state broadcasters, it's what BBC World Service was built for.

The coverage of the Labour pledge has definitely helped with sunlight, and Harry's case too.

We need to keep going.

TimeLady · 17/02/2020 09:39

I don't believe the BBC broadcasts fake news. It does, however, influence the debate by failing to report on certain issues. I have no doubt this is deliberate.

"If that were true, the BBC would have reported it". Haven't we all heard that?
.

haggistramp · 17/02/2020 10:06

Dawns reply consisted of twaw and everything else is transphobia and or if it sounds reasonable, a dog whistle to transphobia. So essentially twaw, no debate.

OP posts:
Ereshkigalangcleg · 17/02/2020 10:07

Idiot.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 17/02/2020 10:12

Dawn has long shown an active aversion to thinking, so if this in any way hastens the end of her career that would be a good thing.

Mockersisrightasusual · 17/02/2020 10:15

Dwn Butler on Sky News now, says all bullies should be taken off social media. Shades of "close down the Internet!"
