This post is prompted by an off-hand remark on another thread, and a few questions I've had in real life, from other women - feminists who ask me (an academic) about how "safe" many university campuses are at the moment.

And by "safe" these women are meaning - not captured by gender ideology extremists.

Friends are asking me about universities where young women's rights to privacy & safety will be respected, where they won't be required to believe in an internal "gender identity" (like a soul?) which relies on the very regressive stereotypes of pink and blue guff that Mermaids (for example) tries to feed children, or that, if their daughters are lesbian, they won't be required to include transwomen in their dating pools.

Is this important to you? Maybe we can share advice and information ...

Yes, it is important to me. UCL is looking very good right now.

DS will be deciding in a few years and I will definitely be providing input and my opinion. Whether he takes it or not is another thing.
He has great critical thinking skills and I don't want him to lose it.

UCL - slap bang next to SOAS (woke central!). Maybe try a nice engineering one (like Imperial!).

UCL hosted the recent Women's Liberation Conference, and had one of their (male) professors welcome delegates to the event. That was very very heartening.

My perception is that most students don't pay any attention to genderism, and avoid student politics. There will of course be some subjects where it's inescapable, whilst others which are pretty free of it - particularly those still trying to escape from old fashioned sexism which have lower percentages of women students.

Look for anywhere NOT endorsed by Stonewall!

One of mine is at one of the no platforming feminists ones. It happened after she started.

She was completely unaware that the no platforming was happening until I mentioned it. At the university she has met no non binary people or TRAs. The only trans conversation she has heard was about Blaire White attempting to talk to the Canadian waxing individual. The trans activism stuff seems to be passing ordinary students by.

Didn't Helen Joyce do her PhD at UCL? Or did I mishear that in her interview with Benjamin Boyce?

Will also say DD is doing English lit and doing assignments from feminist perspectives, but isn’t covering genderism.

Quite separately from that, I have heard Pomo centric students saying they can’t get grant funding for their Pomo interests because it has gone out of academic fashion. I don’t know if there is any truth to that.

Lordfrontpaw · 10/02/2020 19:33

UCL good for English (well it was back in the day). Still very well regarded.

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 10/02/2020 19:46

Yes, Scapa, I’ve got it on right now!
