Domestic violence reporting complaint - BBC

Hi,

I just saw this article on BBC online and am going to lodge a complaint and posting here in case others can support.

The tabloids are bad enough but seeing this kind of headline from the BBC is even worse somehow...

I just posted this on my FB feed which explains what I think is wrong about it...

I am so sick of seeing this kind of headline downplaying vicious and violent domestic abuse.

A ‘family row’...

Her father, who had previously beaten her mother so badly the police said it was one of the worst cases they’d ever seen:

  • Punched her in the face
  • Gouged her mother’s eye
  • Picked up a knife and told them he was going to kill them
  • Tried to strangle her (not in this article but a later article)

Does this sound like a ‘family row’? Anyone who thinks that is a ‘family row’ needs immediate help.

Oh and also using the words “no nonsense” to describe his parenting style 🙄
