'Originally given a life sentence for killing his partner, Chantale Deschesnes, in 2004 by beating her with a hammer and stabbing her, Gallese gradually gained limited freedom for good behaviour'

'According to the parole board’s latest written decision, obtained by VICE and translated from French, Gallese brought up relationships with women during a discussion with his case workers. While Gallese’s intimate relationships were deemed inappropriate, the decision explicitly acknowledges his “sexual needs.”'

A murderer's right to sex is more important than protecting women from a violent monster.

So you are opposed to sex workers who choose to work in the industry making a better living then? You are opposed to them having more power over which clients to see? The Nordic model gives clients more power not less.

If demand decreases and supply doesn’t how do you think that affects workers? It means they see clients they’d otherwise turn down, they take more risks, clients have more power to demand services. The research into what has happened in France is devastating. Incomes down, ability to negotiate condom use down, 12 workers killed in 3 years, countless migrant workers deported.

Sex workers do not sell their bodies. They own their bodies. The money does not negate consent. They can withdraw consent at any time. They can consent to certain services but not others

How exactly does the Nordic model give clients more power when the clients get criminalised under it? Confused

And we should not try to reduce demand because otherwise sex workers have to stop working or take more violent clients??? But we should try to reduce supply in other ways?? Why would we do one and not the other? ConfusedConfusedConfused

I'm genuinely very confused by your position. There are so.many theoretical scenarios where prostitutes are more likely to be harmed by clients ,like the ones you have described above. But the real problem is some men are violent and believe they are entitled to sex. That isn't going away by legalising or decriminalising their purchase of sex.

Anyway. I have better things to do than discuss prostitution with someone who won't even consider what we can do about men who feel so entitled to sex they will pay fora shag with someone who would ordinarily go nowhere near them.

You are a fan of supply and demand so what happens if supply stays the same and demand goes down? I’ve already explained the impacts above. Medicins du monde habe a comprehensive report into the impact of the Nordic model in France

The entitlement you mention doesn’t go away if you criminalise the purchase of sex. Do you really think men in the USA or UAE or anywhere else are less misogynistic because the purchase of sex is criminalised? Don’t let your anger at men override women’s need to stay safe at work.
