It was also revealed Maney, who is 47,has spent 27 years in jail for almost 200 prior offences involving drugs, violence, driving and child sex offending.
And then later they say:
A Corrections spokesperson also revealed Maneymaybe able to serve her sentencein a women's prison.
They said the individual prisoner is able to apply for a transfer to a facility that matches their gender identity provided they were not sentenced for serious sexual offences against a person of their nominated sex, or have previously served a prison sentence for serious sexual offences.
I'm guessing they're hedging because the official 'no' hasn't been put through yet. Although, of course, the supposed exceptions often aren't applied, same as we saw in the Karen White case.
I also thought it was interesting that it said offences against a person of their nominated sex. Does this mean that a convicted male sex offender would be allowed in a women's prison if their victims had been men or boys?
