Just turned on to GMB to catch the end of a discussion between the brilliant Prof Stock, President? of the Students' Union, Piers and Susannah.

I think the debate stated around 8.40 for those who want to watch on Plus 1 and ITV player.

I only caught a bit (and my signal was breaking up), during which Prof Stock was discussing self ID and the restrictions and consequences on discussing this issue on campus.

Naturally, the SU man was being woke.

Good to see this on mainstream TV.

As if Prof Stock and Piers M are of a kind. Let me know when Kathleen uses the premise of free speech to do a ‘version’ of a Chinese language on national TV.

He may have no truck with TRA censorship but he is hardly the voice of equality!

Intergenerational unkindness seems to miss the point that a significant number of the transitioners are middle aged men with female partners and kids.

I think he is just trying to use big words to say ‘OK Boomer’.

I don't believe that trans women should be given free reign to take part in women's sports as it stands based on just testosterone levels. With our medical capabilities surely muscle mass, cardiovascular efficiency with respect to red blood cell count and endocrine levels are all capable of being measure to ensure as level a playing field as possible. That said sport has never been fair so there are likely other points of view. I do believe that there will come a time particularly in the case of a young trans person (puberty blockers and early transition) that it will become something in certain very limited situations that is difficult to argue against.

Even so I wish they would stop trotting out young people generally ill equipped students to argue points against established professors and well known media figures. When PM said trans women 'are' dominating women's sport that went completely unchallenged. I'm not denying that a few trans women are winning some titles and perhaps adding an element of unfairness but, the word 'domination' sort of leaves the viewer thinking of a Usain Bolt, Manchester Utd of the late 90's early 2000's level of domination. Perhaps that was the idea.
