This is cheering news! Thank you, Maya, for your courage. It can't be easy. I hope you know how many people are behind you. You're a Star

whitehandledkitchenlang · 25/01/2020 20:08

Excellent news. Thank you Maya. You're an Amazon.

Cwenthryth · 25/01/2020 20:09

Cool. Got my trowel, dug a bit.

Barbarella1 · 25/01/2020 20:11

Go Maya.

NotTerfNorCis · 25/01/2020 20:12

Good. People shouldn't be forced to pretend they believe in genderism.

langclegflavoredbananamush · 25/01/2020 20:14

YES! (shovel at ready)! I was afraid it would take longer. Hopefully the response will be timely. I hope the judge who decides whether to let it go forward (how could they not, you'd think) can tell men apart from women.

theflushedzebra · 25/01/2020 20:23

I keep thinking "surely the truth will prevail?" and that this nonsense will one day be over - of us having to be untruthful or face sacking/police interviews/hate incidents against our names/banning from social media etc etc - but it still seems a long way off.

We're all having to walk on eggshells on Mumsnet of all places, CentreParcs have fallen and allowed a male-bodied TW into the open-plan women's changing area, the CPS are doing something very scary in our schools - surely freedom of speech and thought and belief HAS to prevail - doesn't it??

Snoopypants · 25/01/2020 20:30

Good luck Maya and thank you

RicketyLangClegety · 25/01/2020 20:52

Good luck Maya. It seemed like the judge couldn't get his head around the distinction between sex and gender. The whole discussion of intersex people was a bizarre & confusing tangent that has no relevance to transgenderism.

Lordfrontpaw · 25/01/2020 21:01

Hoping for a judge with some bloody common sense.

Voice0fReason · 25/01/2020 21:02

Splendid news
Go Maya!

PurpleCrowbarWhereIsLangCleg · 25/01/2020 21:09

Good luck, Maya, & THANK YOU x

stealthLangnutkin · 25/01/2020 21:10

So glad she is going on to appeal. The initial tribunal decision didn't make sense. Hey ho, hey ho.. wanders off carrying spade...

SugarPlumFairyCakes · 25/01/2020 21:12

Humbled by your tenacity Maya. Much admiration and good luck.

janeskettle · 25/01/2020 21:24

Excellent.

I hope Maya has lots of support around her. It can't be easy.

SophocIestheFox · 25/01/2020 21:49

Excellent news. Solidarity, Maya! Good luck.

GirlDownUnder · 25/01/2020 22:40

Go Maya, you bloody legend!

Quaffy re With my employment lawyer’s hat on....legally it wasn’t a good judgment in my opinion.

Is there any chance a judge would purposely make a judgement that could be questioned, and appealed against in order to create more visibility through conflict?

justicewomen that twitter thread was brilliant - IANAL and it all made sense. What a brilliant writer to make legalise accessible.
