This appears to be a failure of safeguarding of this patient. I feel sorry for x that x was told someone would marry x if x underwent surgery. (sorry, don't know x's name).

"a Panipat resident had forcefully injected female hormones into the complainant on the promise to get married following a sex-transplant surgery, which the latter underwent in 2016. However, the accused refused to marry her later."

Not sure it is a "feminist issue" but this part will sound familiar to many woman "she learnt that he was already married and had a 7-year-old son".

I am so confused by this. Complainant was "forcibly injected" with female hormones by Defendant, DF threatened CP to keep quiet (about being forcibly injected?), then when CP's condition "deteriorated", CP went to a doctor and was recommended a "sex-transplant"/sex-change operation. Which CP did after DF said he would marry CP. He was already married with a child.

What the actual fuck?

Nothing in that article makes much sense. I don't know if it's due to very poor editing and reporting or if the facts are really that bizarre.

Surely you'd need regular hormone injections instead of just one?
And if this person went to a doctor, they would recommend a way to fix the health problems arising from the injection rather than suggesting the drastic step of a sex change operation? Confused

My amateur speculation is that two gay men had a secret relationship. One was married and a father but clearly hid this from the other. The first man must have been pushing for a further commitment of sorts or maybe living together, and the second one said he would marry him if he had a sex change. Given the severe stigma in Indian society towards homosexuality, this is not surprising. The first man seemed to think this was a genuine promise, and went through the whole process, only to find out that the man he loved is a lying, cheating bastard and had no intention of following through on the agreement. Hence the decision to take him to court. But maybe it's too embarrassing for either to publicly admit they had a homosexual relationship, so the complainant has thrown in a story about being forcibly injected or coerced into the process. Who knows. Confused

Anyway, not really relevant on a feminist board.
