Is this true? Well done all, if so!

I really hope this is true and that the U.K. crawls out from under the woke yoke soon.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 20/01/2020 20:36

It'd be great if it happened here too. I really don't understand how people can see this:

www.channel4.com/news/the-scale-of-school-sexual-harassment-and-violence-revealed

And think that mixed sex toilets and changing rooms are a good idea in schools.

AutumnRose1 · 20/01/2020 20:49

It really seems too good to be true

There’s going to be a challenge in court or something if it’s true....or are we finally on the right track?

Yet again the pro gender neutral argument was the old "well the toilets in the kids houses are unisex" or "disabled facilities have always been mixed sex"

SquashedFlyBiscuit · 20/01/2020 20:51

Presumably they'll still assume trans students will use their new "sex" toilets though?

AutumnRose1 · 20/01/2020 20:53

Squashed ah, that’s what the problem will be, I feel a fool for not thinking of it!

Yet.

Koalablue · 20/01/2020 23:04

I'm in australia and I've never come across uni sex toilets and change rooms anywhere. ( with the exception of small places that have one stall only).
This was a school still being built so a bit experimental. Glad it failed.

StrangeLookingParasite · 20/01/2020 23:30

last time I looked, nearly every household, you know where these kids live, has unisex toilet facilities!

Surely you have to be a prize-winning idiot to use this argument?

NearlyGranny · 21/01/2020 16:53

Toilets at home are certainly unisex, but the people using them are all family or invited guests, not randoms!

What part of the difference do the people making this comparison not get? Are they genuinely stupid or cynically disingenuous?

If a busload of unknowns stopped at my door and wanted to queue for my loo, I'd soon send them packing.

3timeslucky · 21/01/2020 17:00

It is really unclear from the article whether all schools and all states have banned unisex toilets from schools. My sister lives in Australia and the impression I have is that the states can and do operate quite differently. She has mentioned a push for/increase in unisex toilets but not specifically in schools.

I really hope this is a national requirement for the provision of sex-segregated school toilets. (I also wish The Sun produced coherent articles).

Mayomaynot · 22/01/2020 11:03

Excellent news if it's true. If girls were asked in a secret ballot if they wanted boys in their toilets you can bet they wouldn't choose mixed sex loos. As an adult, I don't like mixed sex loos either (unless they are single user all-in cubicles - and even then I'm not keen because of the pissy seats and risk of hidden cameras).

emerencehopestoseeLangbacksoon · 22/01/2020 12:06

Pretty sure the school in SA that opened last year with only mixed sex toilets has not reneged. Or not fully.

But was extremely glad to see the QLD gov putting girl's needs into the equation.

LangSpartacusCleg · 22/01/2020 13:05

Sad to report that there are ‘gender neutral’ loos at the Rod Laver Arena for the Australian Open.

Apparently, Queensland is more on the ball about this than Victoria.

DanaPhoenix · 22/01/2020 13:15

The only thing I saw was a media report posted on twitter, but as others have said that was regarding QLD schools I expect this falls under state rather than federal government.

3timeslucky · 27/01/2020 10:45

I saw it confirmed yesterday that this only applies to Queensland, not to Australia as a whole. Pity.
