And retweeted by the Conservatives.

Girls just no longer a thing, then?

Will this be enough to make people stop pretending this is a left wing agenda?

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 18/01/2020 23:07

Everyone on the gov.uk page uses the same language. They've all drunk the Koolaid.

www.civilservice.lgbt/2019/04/29/civil-service-diversity-and-inclusion-champion/

"Department for Education permanent secretary Jonathan Slater took up the mantle of civil service LGBTI champion in April."

www.civilserviceworld.com/articles/interview/theres-been-lot-listening-jonathan-slater-becoming-civil-service-lgbti-champion

"Jonathan was recently announced as Stonewall’s ‘Senior Champion of the Year’ for his work improving the LGBT+ staff experience at the Department for Education."

CranberriesChoccy · 19/01/2020 11:32

From the gov.uk page:

"The scheme also comes just months before health education becomes a compulsory for all state funded primary and secondary schools, under new guidance on relationships, sex and health education from September 2020 – to ensure all young people learn about living healthy lives, including menstrual wellbeing."

I don't hold out much hope for sex and health education if they struggle to use the words girl(s) or woman(en).

It's awful, it is a sort of gaslighting psychological warfare, really.

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 19/01/2020 12:50

I'm trying to understand what's behind the disparity. Is the move to use gender neutral wording for female issues driven by transwomen activists, as they consider themselves 'women' yet any talk of periods/female cancers etc mentioning women makes them feel excluded?
Of course as natal males they've been socialised to feel entitled... transmen won't have been.

I believe the disparity is down to transwomen driving this, not transmen.. am I right?

ThinEndoftheWedge · 19/01/2020 14:32

Thanks xxyzx for posting

He states -

‘To take one example, each government department works on its own submission to the Stonewall Index.’

What is this index?

‘ We’ll be looking to demonstrate to Stonewall that our HR-wide policies help to foster diversity and inclusion’

Why demonstrate to stonewall? - aren’t they supposed to demonstrate to politicians who are accountable to us?

Diversity - doesn’t include ‘adult human female’
Inclusion - doesn’t include the word girls

Frightening

How exactly did Stonewall become so powerful?

Helmetbymidnight · 19/01/2020 14:41

thats a fascinating article- he really comes across as stonewalls poodle. surely thats massively inappropriate for a cs?

also learning so much from his transdaughter...

blimey.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 19/01/2020 14:53

Jonathan is also very interested in wellbeing and the department has invested a great deal of effort and time into supporting staff to do things to connect and share problems, and bring their whole selves to work. There is a lot that is good about his approach - having had previous perm secs who couldn't give a damn about their staff, he is a breath of fresh air- but I think there is a misguided and woke flavour to some of it. It is a much happier place to work since Jonathan arrived. But you can't speak openly about GC views. There is a sense that you would be shamed or sent on a diversity course. So you don't mention it. The level of bullying, discrimination etc recorded there by staff hasn't got worse, and a lot of initiatives have made it easier to report. I can be completely open about my mental health - I don't feel I have to hide my depression at all, so lots of what they are doing is positive. So I can't see Jonathan or the senior management as inherently sexist or domineering. Trans colleagues are supported quietly and without fanfare, which I think is right.

Helmetbymidnight · 19/01/2020 14:59

i imagine hes a lovely guy, but from that article, its clear hes utterly and unquestioningly in thrall to one lobby group- stonewall- which some call an anti-women andanti-lgb organisation.
its fascinating to see this.

Helmetbymidnight · 19/01/2020 15:02

sorry- meant to say its fantastic he's created a more harmonious environment and mh initiatives but ...wow. im really intrigued to see this- and theres no oversight is there..

Qcng · 19/01/2020 15:57

I believe the disparity is down to transwomen driving this, not transmen.. am I right?

That's my take on it, clouds buy they use "transmen" as a type of gotchta or should or something "oh but you wouldn't want to upset all the transmen with ovaries now would you".

If it really WERE about transmen, transmen would be targeting all the male health campaigns saying "but not all men have testicles" etc etc.

That's not happening is it.

When Always took away their Venus symbol to appease the trans activists, I simply doubted any transmen were behind that too, the most vociferously misogynistic trans activists were born male.

They Target companies and charities one by one like they're toppling dominoes.

Qcng · 19/01/2020 15:58

Oops try again

That's my take on it, clouds but they use "transmen" as a type of gotchta or shield or something "oh but you wouldn't want to upset all the transmen with ovaries now would you".

@AndNoneForGretchenWieners

Are the gender neutral toilets Jonathan Slater mentions the only option at the DfE? Or are ladies/men's toilets there as options too?

Uncompromisingwoman · 19/01/2020 17:02

I've asked this before but how does receiving awards from Stonewall for advocating for them and implementing their demands sit with the Nolan principles of public life? Especially integrity which states:
Holders of public office must avoid placing themselves under any obligation to people or organisations that might try inappropriately to influence them in their work. They should not act or take decisions in order to gain financial or other material benefits for themselves, their family, or their friends. They must declare and resolve any interests and relationships
How on earth do Slater's actions not breach this core principle in multiple ways?

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 19/01/2020 20:50

No, they are separate loos. There are still large male and female toilet blocks on every floor of every DfE building. There are separate disabled toilets, and then additional gender neutral toilets that are like a disabled loo - each one is it's own toilet, not like the Ally McBeal type with cubicles. And hardly anyone uses them so they are the cleanest and nicest, never a queue.
