Selfridge's: women's rights, women's loos

Fascinating story - Selfridge's pioneered so much we take for granted today. Basically Mr Selfridge brought modern shopping to the UK - first escalators, bargain basements, high profile beauty departments - and he championed women's rights including Votes for Women and the first women's toilets. Instrumental in helping women get out of the house because they had somewhere respectable to go, exciting new ways to spend money, nice places for tea - AND LOOS. I wonder what those Edwardian shoppers would think about what's happening now!

I wonder what’s stopping society (or at least those who have power) learning from history?

I’d love to be able to time travel to the next century and read what is written about this dreadful time we’re currently living through, where overt misogyny is the nation’s favourite pastime!

Yes, certain places in London really were at the forefront of women's liberation.
I'm proud to be part of British history in that respect and so will never give up on protecting women's rights.
