Gender identity in email signatures

And no, I don’t mean gender pronouns such as she/he/them/ze, etc.

I have started receiving emails from certain companies (I occasionally work in the Arts) with things like (cis; he/they) included in the signature.

As much as I think the whole thing is a load of bollocks, I can understand why some people would want to define their gender pronouns in social/professional settings. But why include ‘cis/trans’ in the email signature? Why does someone you have professional contact with (in a situation that doesn’t involve protection of vulnerable groups) need to know that?

What am I missing? Confused

I really don't understand this. So their email sign off is 'Beverly Jones (she/her), Head of Sales'?

I live in Asia and occasionally see something like Tan, Lim (Ms) which I find helpful as I didn't grow up in Asia and am not familiar with a lot of regional names.

The she/her thing (if that's how it's being written) just seems like they're trying to show how woke they are. Fucking bizarre bollocks.

It’s

Beverly Jones
(cis - she/they)
Head of Sales

And it’s the ‘cis’ bit in particular that I am Hmm at.

It's maybe because, whilst TWAW in exactly the same way that black WAW and tall WAW (you bigot), it is important not to lose sight of the cis /trans binary. For reasons which will become clear if you read this thread from Maya Forstater

This is where we are heading if we accept the female gender identity that is currently being imposed upon us by, amongst many others, The Guardian, NHS, Met police and the Office for National Statistics.

I don't doubt life can be difficult for some males who do not fit masculine stereotypes. I can pretty much guarantee you that they are not affected by maternity discrimination, pregnancy from rape, period shaming and female social conditioning. No its not an oppression race and true intersectionality should give us all our voices. But with the cis/trans hierarchy, women's lived experiences seem to disappear in an instant.

@SapphosRock That's right, but it's also about context. Nobody is making anyone sign off emails with gender declarations, but the uncomfortable thing is that some people do this because they believe that they are more virtuous that people don't do it.

For me, it's like someone signing off an email with 'Btw, I don't vote Tory'. Now, I don't really warm to the Tories either, but I wouldn't't have a good opinion of someone who signs off their emails in this way, even if I agree with them politically.

Also, this whole gender thing is so personal you might as well declare what your sexual orientation is at the end as well.

I'm really confused - I thought trans people didn't want to be outed which is exactly what this does?
