Jo Swinson told to wear a low cut top

Jo Swinson was just on this morning (I'm not a fan but do try and watch /listen to interviews from all parties to make up my own mind).

She was apparently given advice from someone in her OWN PARTY that she should wear a lower cut top to gain votes. Horrendous. She was trying to make a point to Holly about how bad this is, but then just seemed to laugh off the fact it came from someone in her party, that she's supposed to be leading!

Honestly? Anything other than his own position at the top or near to it. Don't trust him as far as I could throw him.

I don't think a low necked top would help Jeremy either.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 10/12/2019 12:36

What is the stance of the other parties on GC issues though?

Aposterhasnoname · 10/12/2019 12:39

Of course she laughed it off. Jo doesn’t believe biological sex exists, therefore sexism cannot exist and this was merely a jolly jape.

Feminists are difficult and dangerous.

Fraggling · 10/12/2019 12:54

I don't think I'm likely to be swayed by a low cut top, and neither are most women either.

They seem to have forgotten half the population again :(

As well as all the other probs with this that pps have mentioned.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/12/2019 12:56

I mean, you could read that as the LibDems and their supporters having quite literally forgotten that women can vote. It would explain a lot.

Birdsfoottrefoil · 10/12/2019 14:27

Or maybe they were concerned that she wasn’t sure what a woman was so were reminding her of the stereotype she identifies with?

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 10/12/2019 14:56

so just some random comment on twitter

I dont recall her saying it was from her own party...in fact im virtually positive that she denied that

Only virtually positive...

zanahoria · 10/12/2019 15:12

I am wondering whether she mentioned it hoping it would get the headlines and distract from rubbish she speaks.

Mishfit0819 · 10/12/2019 15:18

@RufusthebewiIderedreindeer she was asked by Holly if the comment came from within her own party, she floundered and said not someone standing but from within the party, if I remember correctly. I took it to mean a paid party member rather than just a random on twitter.

Idread a Jo, Nicola and Jeremy coalition more. What would Jeremy give away in coalition bargaining, I wonder?

Could it be women's rights?

And Scotland. Labour has lost Scotland anyway so he couldn't care less.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 10/12/2019 16:40

I wonder about Jess Philips as the first female labour leader.

There's plenty I disagree with her about, but, she understands parliamentary process and is an able debater.

Oddly enough, I've never noticed her breasts. Or the cut of her tops. Am I engaging in politics wrong?

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 10/12/2019 16:44

Aaah mish

I get what the problem is

I watched her on the bbc morning program yesterday when she said that it wasnt anyone in the party that said it

Wonder why she’s hedging now

Anyhoo...apologies i missed the holly bit Smile
