More than 1,350 women who suffered devastating side effects from a pelvic mesh implant used to treat issues from childbirth have won a class action suit against global giant Johnson & Johnson.

This is really good news- it's just horrific what women have been put through. I hope they are compensated adequately for the ruination of their health.

BlueGingerale · 21/11/2019 04:16

Very good news. I hope all 8,000 women join the suit and they all get a very large sum.

Watch ‘the bleeding edge’ on Netflix if you want to know more about this.....

MrsTerryPratchett · 21/11/2019 05:39

Those poor women. And the delay because their pain and suffering wasn't taken seriously. As per bloody usual.

Cwenthryth · 21/11/2019 05:42

Amazing news. I know someone affected by this and it is hell for her, and is basically never going to be completely fixable, she will suffer with it for the rest of her life.

mobile.abc.net.au/news/2019-11-21/nurse-sean-farrow-secretly-filmed-women-at-monash-house-hospital/11725616. Another disturbing story further down the page. But don't want to derail from the important mesh story.

Fantastic outcome.

334bu · 21/11/2019 08:17

Wonderful news!

Uncompromisingwoman · 21/11/2019 08:32

Well that's a bit of good news. The lack of progress over birth injuries to women is a complete scandal.

Stupiddriver1 · 21/11/2019 08:37

No amount of money will compensate for being in chronic pain but I hope they get a good settlement.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 21/11/2019 08:37

There are women in other parts of the world who had that mesh put in too. Let's hope justice isn't confined to Australia.

Rocaille · 21/11/2019 09:13

I'm glad they've won and hope more women come forward to sue. Won't take away their pain though.

Great news and I hope there will be many more successes to follow. We need more funding and research for women’s health issues, we cannot afford to sacrifice biology for the myth of gender.
