Really important set of tweets from Fair Cop - first one here:

twitter.com/WeAreFairCop/status/1195287091657228289

  1. The College of Policing say in their skeleton argument that ‘Trans women are not women’ is NOT a political statement but is rather de facto evidence of Hate. As is implying that women do not have beards.
  1. The CoP also take the position that an enquiry into whether a rape committed by a transwoman should be entered as a Male or Female crime is also not a relevant political question but is also a de facto signifier of Hate.
  1. The CoP state that any criticism of the Meraids CEO in relation to the transing of her child is de facto evidence of Hate. As is questioning the policy of transitioning children.
  1. The CoP tell us that it is none of our goddam business where they get their training in gender and diversity from. Stonewall good, critics bad. End of.
  1. The CoP make it clear that criticism of transwomen in female sport is not a legitimate political position but is de facto evidence of hate.
  1. Meanwhile, @Humberbeat maintain that they can foresee no circumstances where a non crime crime report on a crime sheet would be disclosed in an enhanced dbs. Except, maybe, if you want to work in schools. Or with vulnerable people. So, no worries there, then.
  1. Finally, unapologetic ask for cash: we have an additional 25k to pay by Tuesday. Please go to our pinned tweet and share like hell.

I am beyond anger and into despair and weeping. Criticism of trans women in sport is a hate crime. What the actual FUCK?

OP posts:
Siameasy · 15/11/2019 12:18

Right none of these things are hate crimes as there must be an actual crime in the first place and to charge a hate crime you must go through the CPS as police cannot decide on charge

If what they are implying is that these questions would be logged as hate incidents I agree that is chilling and I would be interested in how this fits in with the Human Rights Act which has higher authority here

It is not the job of the police to enter into politics.

Hellmistress · 15/11/2019 12:28

I'm really hoping to get to court for the day. Hope lots of people turn up

I've taken the day off work specially and I look forward to seeing you there.

ImGenderfree · 15/11/2019 12:38

Donated - I had to reread it several times before I could believe it. It’s Orwellian.

ImGenderfree · 15/11/2019 12:42

Uncompromisingwomen I actually have faith in the judiciary to look at the law in this situation and see the wider implications to this - we just need to get it in front of them. I think we need a fingers crossed crossed symbol though.

Inebriati · 15/11/2019 13:11

Both the Gender Recognition Act and the Equality Act specifically state that sports can be sex segregated, and exclude trans people.

Uncompromisingwoman · 15/11/2019 13:17

I really hope you're right ImGenderFree. But then I'd have put money on a Tory government stopping children from being groomed in schools that they might be born in the wrong body, protecting women from being harassed by unwanted men in hospital wards, etc. And sports organisations understanding that born men in women's sport have an unfair advantage. Not to mention a brand like M & S opening up their women's changing rooms to every man with a fetish who wants to be there.
I feel really sceptical today Sad Sorry.

Siameasy · 15/11/2019 13:29

I’d like to see the safeguarding training the police receive because I can bet my boots that it will focus on “challenging what’s in front of you” “not taking things at face value” “investigating” “asking difficult questions” “not being afraid to speak out”
So in every other way we expect our police to act in this way - to interrogate, to look under the surface but TWAW and that’s it

FairCop · 15/11/2019 13:30

Thanks so much for all your digging, we're so grateful.

We're looking forward to meeting some of you. Bring Gin

Thank you, thank you! Flowers

Manderleyagain · 15/11/2019 13:49

"They'd better get ready to imprison my Tory MP then. Here's a quote from her:
' I think in years to come back we will look back at those who have pushed this agenda and will have done untold harm to young people who will have had their lives ruined by not being allowed to take time over making a very difficult decision.'"

Ms McWibble - was this said in public? Which MP is it?

I have donated again. It's a very important case.

Some people on twitter are asking them to publish the police's skeleton arguments, but I assume that would not be ok until after the case is heard. The arguments (though paraphrased by Fair Cop so assuming that's accurate) show how important it is. Will a judge uphold my right to voice genuine political opinion without inteference from the state? Will a judge allow the police to continue deciding which opinions are allowed to be voiced, or which questions are allowed to be asked, by citizens?

PenguindreamsofDraco · 15/11/2019 13:49

Grabbed my spade again a couple of days ago. Some scary times we live in.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 15/11/2019 13:51

small shovelful. Good luck. Terrifying if you lose this case.

BarbaraStrozzi · 15/11/2019 13:53

Bit more of your hole dug for you...

That skeleton argument is truly terrifying. If you lose this case, we are all collectively screwed.

Have you tweeted Janice Turner, James Kirkup et al with that skeleton argument? This should be all over the newspapers.

Joisanofthedales · 15/11/2019 14:13

Have donated again. I am terrified by those skeleton arguments, being a gobby woman who takes after her gobby mum.

niceberg · 15/11/2019 14:18

Donated. Horrified by their arguments.

ClosdesMouches · 15/11/2019 14:22

This is really quite terrifying, but at the same time it angers me too.

ImGenderfree · 15/11/2019 14:23

Uncompromising don’t feel sorry I often feel like that especially with the long list you gave. I can’t believe that these organisations are throwing us under the bus. The faircop case case is jaw dropping! However have a look at Maya Forstater tweets from the trial today - she smashed it

OvaHere · 15/11/2019 14:50

I dug another hole today. I'm genuinely terrified by the arguments of the CoP. Most of the population have no idea of the dystopian nightmare we are walking into.

ClosdesMouches · 15/11/2019 14:55

Most of the population have no idea of the dystopian nightmare we are walking into.

This is spot on.

RoyalCorgi · 15/11/2019 15:18

Can I check where the case is being heard and at what time? Is it the High Court in Westminster?

Lordamighty · 15/11/2019 15:19

What the hell are the CoP thinking, those skeleton arguments are outrageous. I am completely baffled by the mainstream media’s silence on this. If the general public were more aware of what the police were promoting they would be a laughing stock.

Birdsfoottrefoil · 15/11/2019 15:57

More ⛏⛏⛏⛏ needed

ThePurported · 15/11/2019 16:12

I just don't get it. These people are responsible for training police officers. What are they playing at? Are they really that stupid?
Didn't some police high up say a while ago that they need to be able to focus on real crime instead of logging 'incidents' that are not offences.
Is this a cry for help by the College of Policing?

MrsSnippyPants · 15/11/2019 16:20

I’ll be there. Are we having a secret handshake? Grin

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 15/11/2019 16:21

Are they really that stupid?

It's not stupid.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 15/11/2019 16:34

Most of the population have no idea of the dystopian nightmare we are walking into.

Yes. Years ago, I would have hoped Liberty or Amnesty would have been on this issue. Instead, they seem to be pushing for the opposite. Shocking.
