do cross sex treatments harm female bodies?

There's lots of evidence about how menopuase affects a female body.

If a woman is menoapausal before she is 40 she needs HRT to protect her heart, arteries and bone health. And maybe there's a dementia risk.

If a woman has a hysterectomy she can get a vaginal prolapse.

Vaginal atrophy needs oestrogen treatment and does not go away once menopausal symptoms settle.

So, can anyone explain to me the logic of putting young female bodies on testosterone, removing their ovaries and uterus, and not treating their vaginal atrophy?

Aren't we going to have a lot of transmen dying of strokes or heart attacks because they wanted a beard and muscle mass?

Genuinely can't get my head round it.

Testosterone leads to vaginal atrophy within months of treatment commencing.

Buck Angel had a life threatening complication of this:

So yes, testosterone harms the female body, and long term complications aren’t known or are only just becoming evident. The experiment continues...

There is quite a lot of evidence regarding the damage done to women's bodies by testosterone due to the appalling treatment of Eastern block athletes back in the late 70s and 80s.

There are also a number of class action lawsuits being pursued against testosterone manufacturers in the US with regard to men taking testosterone for body building and/or HRT purposes.

There is no doubt whatsoever that taking testosterone artificially is damaging.

I know that Lupron causes a lot of problems for the bones and joints, women have had to have hip replacements whilst still young as a result of it:

As far a s I can see this is not discussed amongst the trans community.

They'll talk about "problems below", which is the itchy vaginal atrophy, I guess. Reluctant to take oestrogen pessary because it's oestrogen. Would rather risk what happened to Buck Angel?

I'm worried about the number of people with dysphorias who are buying medication online.

It's self harm. And, very, very bad medicine.

Yes, there have been many threads on this. Wish I was as organised as R0 but I don't have the links.

NeurotrashWarrior · 12/11/2019 13:59

There was a post yesterday about Lupron and it's damage to women, with link to the site collecting evidence.

It makes films like this very chilling to then watch.

Especially when you know how nurses aren't supposed to even touch the case if they're likely to get pregnant within 3 mo.

"As it turned out, the testosterone had atrophied my reproductive system—a condition that could have been prevented by the use of estrogen cream. The atrophy fused my uterus and my cervix together, along with my ovaries and everything else, creating an infection that burst and became septic." - Buck Angel

FUCKING HELL! This is absolutely horrific! Frankenstein science.

That article is shocking Neurotrash

I know it’s been said over and over, but this whole thread makes me feel desperately sad over again. I know that in the past, psychiatrists weren’t able to help much, hence the transition experiment.

But there are so many new treatments now in use for other conditions, but they’re not testing them because of the overwhelming pressure to affirm.

But this programme causes so much harm. It’s not neutral. It should only be used when there is literally nothing else that will help... if then.

RoyalCorgi · 12/11/2019 16:32

Agree with everything that's been said so far - and it absolutely horrifies me that normal standards aren't being applied to the administration of dangerous medicines. Some women, after all, who start taking testosterone at 17 or 18, will be taking it for the rest of their lives. How many have been warned of the medical implications of that?

I once heard a really interesting programme about why men on average die younger than women. The answer was testosterone, strangely enough. The very thing that gives men strength and muscle power also shortens their lives. The castrati of earlier centuries were often very long lived compared to other men.

Smallblanket · 13/11/2019 07:47

The trans man in the video! His "Endo". Is prescribing Lupton on top of testosterone, because, for personal reasons, he doesn't want a hysterectomy, but keeps having periods. Lupton he tells viewers reassuringly is "just a pause button" for children and is completely harmless.

A walking experiment.

Campervan69 · 13/11/2019 08:06

I wonder then whether some of the push from the male American millionaires who have become TW in later life is an experiment to see if it makes them live longer. I remember seeing a really creepy video about one of them who was also experimenting to see if he could make a robot of his wife so that when she died he had a replacement.

None. The implications of taking wrong sex hormones for your entire adult life are not known. This is a live experiment, the subjects of which were targeted as children at a time when the full impact of taking artificial testosterone for relatively short periods in adult men and women were only beginning to come to light. In truth no one has the first clue what the long term implications of taking it are for women whose use started before they were out of their teens.
