Similar to Scottish government fund for sports club to get free sanitary products ' for 'people who menstruate'. I casually mentioned to my line manager that actually only women needed them. He did agree thankfully.

It's because some people with a cervix identify as gender neutral now and like to be called the they or them. Or they could be transitioning from female to male and this is one of those things that's so Important it needs to be encouraged for everyone!

Saisong · 07/11/2019 08:09

It does say "All women and people with a cervix" which is Ok I think? Not erasing women, and the rest of it exclusively mentions women. They've just added the extra in for woke points.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 07/11/2019 08:11

Maybe if they promoted the service as for women rather than for "people with a cervix" more women would turn up.

teawamutu · 07/11/2019 08:17

You know what, I can live with 'people with a cervix' for the snowflakes. At least we get to keep women.

RumDo · 07/11/2019 10:54

Maybe it’s not an article seeking to erase women, but it feels to me like another little erosion (forgive the terminology in a thread about cervixes!) of our freedom to talk about basic (female) biology.

Saisong is probably right-it’s a woke nod.

It still bothers me!

They still know that biologically they are and always will be women. In medicine reality is still important.

AnyOldPrion · 07/11/2019 11:18

The second picture only seems to mention women. Did I miss something.

As for the first, they’re trying for a middle ground. They originally removed the word women because of demands and created much outrage (or witnessed other groups making this error) so now they’ve added it back in, but have chosen to keep the “inclusive” language.

Many of us suggested, when “cervix haver” was the only option, that if they really wanted to be inclusive, as opposed to pandering to an ideology that removed women, they could say something that covered everyone, such as women and transmen.

Looks like this is what they came up with as an attempt at compromise. Pretty dehumanizing I’d say, but if you despise being called a woman so much that you’d choose the term “anyone with a cervix” to identify you, then good luck.

terfsandwich · 07/11/2019 11:23

Needs comma after women to be acceptable imo.

@OldCrone oh I completely agree with you I would be really upset to think that I couldn't be referred to as a woman in the future I don't think combining genders is the way to equality and the need to not offend! It's like saying pregnant people no thanks! I think this article is okay though Because it says woman and people with a cervix. But people do get too hung up on gender identity and forget that somethings are linked to a biological gender!
