I mailed. Thank you.

tabbyturmoil · 05/11/2019 13:13

I would imagine it's climate, as the collapse of society would surely be a living hell for women.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 05/11/2019 13:15

I would imagine that's defining the word "woman" and upholding their sex based rights.

Without that there is no way of telling what issues affect women.

CarolCutrere · 05/11/2019 13:26

Corbyn's insane economic plans.

Trewser · 05/11/2019 13:27

Trying to pin down one single issue is reductive and unintelligent.

MrsJoshNavidi · 05/11/2019 13:32

Exactly. But precisely because of all the other pressing issues of our time. Austerity? Impacts women worse. Refugee crisis? Camps are extremely dangerous for women and children. Sex trafficking, prostitution, revenge porn and the epidemic of sexual violence? Affects women. Maternity discrimination and infant & maternal health? Women. Climate change? Disasters around the world have shown us that women & children are in danger when societies break down.

This won't end just because we're banned from having a noun to describe the large gamete producing class of human being and because data has begun to be obfuscated by the recording of gender ID over sex.

We need to start with the truth and then solve all the problems.

Michelleoftheresistance · 05/11/2019 14:10

Agree, Still

Change 'woman' to mean 'anyone who wants to call themselves one' and dismantle women's sex based rights while making the term 'sex based rights' and 'sex' hate speech -

and all you've got is a lot of silent, hidden female victims in your list above and a whole lot of whataboutery. We won't be able to or even allowed to talk about them or the reason for their disadvantage, and some will insist it's 'sensitive' (looking at you Gove) to even admit to knowing there's a problem.

That was the gist of my mail.

stealthsquirrelnutkin · 05/11/2019 20:06

Here's my e-mail. I just realised I forgot to mention the Liberal Democrats, should have added that they're worse than useless on this issue too. Was it a Lib Dem meeting that cheered the prospect of a parliament consisting of 50% men and 50% transwomen? Or was that the WEP?

......................................

As a 62 year old, lesbian feminist I see the removal of hard won, sex based rights for women and girls, and the dismantling of the women-only services we built from the ground up, without any state financial support, as the most important political question since women won the right to vote. Yet, to my utter dismay the only parliamentary politicians brave enough to openly stand against the trans lobby juggernaut are a few exceptionally brave SNP women, and one Conservative bloke.

I left the labour party after it became apparent that Corbyn was choosing to withhold support from Linda Bellos, who was being persecuted in the most despicable way. The behaviour of the rabid mob that hammered on the windows of the Woman’s Place UK (WPUK) meeting in Brighton, while the police stood by, arms crossed and pointedly looking in the other direction was endorsed from the platform at Momentum’s The World Transformed event. The Greens now classify women as non-men, and the Women's Equality Party kicked out Heather Brunskell-Evans for believing in the the biological reality of womanhood.

This leaves me without political representation. For the first time in my life I will be registering a protest vote. To ensure that it is not dismissed as "voter's intention uncertain" I will be putting a single line through all the boxes, and writing NONE across the ballot paper.

Every political party now insists that transwomen are women. Leaving us without a word to describe all the females who have shared experiences of growing up as girls and living as women in a world designed and adapted for men. The fact that many late transitioning males are heterosexual, and have come to their new identity via cissy porn and an AGP fetish is not allowed to be mentioned, nor the fact that they get a sexual thrill from forcing themselves into women's spaces, and breaking through the cotton ceiling of lesbian knickers.

We lesbians have had to watch all our women only spaces targeted, invaded and destroyed by males who identify as lesbians. They insist on being allowed to join every women-only group, and then demand to be the centre of attention, talking over women and constantly bringing everything back to themselves. Any topic that fails to centre them is declared "triggering" and accused of making them feel "unsafe" many subjects important to females are shut down, there should be no mention of female anatomy, no mention of sex based discrimination in the work place, no mention of female health problems, no mention of anything that doesn't "centre the vulnerable transwoman".

Lesbian groups have been forced back into the closet, we have to arrange to meet in private groups, with membership by invitation only, just like our foremothers did before the gay liberation movement. Anytime the news leaks that a group of adult female homosexuals has formed, and is excluding those lesbians unfortunate enough to have been assigned male at birth, then that group, and it's members are hounded and persecuted without mercy. The frenzied hatred that Allison Bailey experienced for the crime of being involved in founding the LGB Alliance, a group aiming to protect the interests of same sex oriented people, is a very clear example of how enraging it is to some people when women dare to say no, and demand the right to their own space.

Also unmentionable is the escalating number of girls who reach puberty and are horrified by the way boys and men react to their rapidly changing bodies. It was bad enough when I was a lass, back in the early 70's. What girl in her right mind, being exposed to a constant stream of internet porn and a barrage of unwanted sexual attention, wouldn't choose to opt out of a cis female identity if the possibility was on offer?

Many lesbians were tomboys in their youth, growing into butch lesbians. We see our baby dyke sisters being badgered to "state their pronouns", undermining their confidence and self acceptance. We watch with impotent rage as they get sucked into a cult that persuades them to hate their female bodies, to take testosterone and have their healthy breasts surgically removed.

Stonewall, the charity we built to fight for our rights, is actively involved in the gaslighting of young lesbians, spreading the lie that homosexuality is "same gender" attraction, and supporting the view that lesbians would learn to overcome their revulsion to the translesbian penis, if only they were willing to try a bit harder, to acknowledge the internalised transphobia that prevents them appreciating the female penis, and persevere until they learn how to cope with "strapless" in their sex lives.

All the bad things we predicted are happening. The Karen Whites in women's prisons, the Jessica Yaniv saga in Canada, and ever increasing numbers of damaged young lesbians, detransitioning in their mid twenties, and wondering why there were no safeguards in place to protect them when they were vulnerable teenagers under the influence of a cult.

Perhaps the terrifying Jenni Murray could do a series about this. After all, she strikes fear into the heart of great big, violent-porn loving, trans ladies like Jane Fae, so she'd be ideal for the job.

MrsSnippyPants · 05/11/2019 21:23

Flowers Flowers Flowers

stealthsquirrelnutkin · 05/11/2019 23:29

Scary? Moi?

Nah, I'm just a dear, sweet, old lady, a bit unsteady on her feet who may or may not happen to be carrying some exceptionally sharp knitting needles, no cause for alarm, nothing to see here.....

Ohwhatatangledwebweweave · 05/11/2019 23:31

Stealth that response is perfect. I will be using a few of your examples in my own response.

ChattyLion · 06/11/2019 00:48

GaraMedouar · 06/11/2019 06:36

Stealth - great email. I wish i could write like that! I was talking with my DS yesterday ( who is at a woke university), and discussing i didn't know now who to vote for because of this.

HandsOffMyRights · 06/11/2019 07:10

Superb email Stealth

..the most important political question since women won the right to vote.

This.

stealthsquirrelnutkin · 06/11/2019 11:13

Gosh, now you're all making me blush.

Nearly everything I wrote had already been written better in earlier threads, by the erudite women of this board. Strong, brave women had been trying to raise awareness of the threat for over a decade, while a conspiracy of media silence and misrepresentation forced them to fight alone, against overwhelming odds, and unacknowledged.

I'm ashamed to admit that it wasn't until March last year, that I found out how times had changed since I retired from the scene in the late 90's. I saw footage of a female trade unionist being attacked on her picket line by a frenzied young woman, screaming that she was a TERF. The hatred, and the unmistakable urge to do violence was most disturbing. I'd never heard the word TURF before, so typed it into google. The very first site to come up was terfisaslur.com and down the rabbit hole I fell, head over heels, bumping and sliding into the darkness below.

Far too many of the inspirational women who were writing last March have been disappeared. Permanently banned from mumsnet due to a sinister combination of targeted reporting and a well-meaning moderation policy that fails to recognise, and therefore fails to resist, being used as a tool for the coercive control of women. Many of the banned women were active members who had invested countless hours of their time composing the witty, amusing and wise messages that make all the difference between mumsnet and netmums. Which is, of course, why they were selected for targeting, they were influential and had to be silenced.

What the trigger happy observer/reporters don't understand, is that for each one of us picked off and banned, 4 or 5 other women who were previously silent step into the fray. Lurkers gather courage and join forces. Meanwhile the banned women find other ways to spread the word, on-line and in person. They have a lot more time to network in the real world with all those hours previously spent providing free content for mumsnet and twitter. Also, with spinster.xyz providing a safe haven for feminist free speech we no longer have to fear permanently loosing touch with women cruelly thrust into the outer darkness without prior warning or a chance to say goodbye.

Let's all make women's hour aware of how we feel, and why. The more different female viewpoints they get, the better. We all come at this from our own backgrounds, our own special interests, and with our own priorities. Let's make sure they remember that women make up more than half of the population, and we aren't going back under his eye without a real fight.

PlasticPatty · 06/11/2019 11:45

OK, I did it, I wrote the email and pressed 'send'. It's further oppression of women, it's a massive issue. I never wanted to put my head above the parapet but I believe in truth and in I believe women. At the moment, I see our future as an 'underground' society and I hate that.
