Drag queen performs ‘abortion’ on stage with fake blood and guts and a plastic foetus

Only source for this is Pink News - sorry.

But the whole story is written about how Christians are kicking up a fuss, and nothing about the disrespect to women who choose for any number of reasons to have an abortion.

Women's reality demeaned and turned into a party trick to boost a male ego.

Gross and offensive to women.

Maybe a drag kind can do a show offering the entertainment of a man having his penis cut off?

DogAndCatPerson · 02/11/2019 07:43

Disgusting individual.

I am now getting ads for Ru Paul’s Drag Race at the bottom of this thread. Wrong demographic, chaps.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 02/11/2019 07:46

I complained and my ads stopped (some pages had two of them!). There should be a wee blue triangle in the top corner as a ‘preference’ apparently but I didn’t need to use it.

The lack of equality is not the issue here.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 02/11/2019 07:58

Lack of taste certainly is.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 02/11/2019 13:59

That's nothing other than vile.
Given there are still massive chunks of the world where women have no access to safe abortion or even good birth control somehow makes it even worse.
Vile individual. If I call him a man will I get a deletion? Because I'm not going to be polite about someone who thinks that's entertainment.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 02/11/2019 15:00

I saw (no sound) a bit of the ‘act’ as it came on my twitter feed and it was pretty horrible. The look of horror on the face of the person sitting alongside said it all.

It was supposed to be entertainment? Was is meant to be funny or wise? Make a statement?

No it was just a silly wee lad/lassie (I have no idea what they say - don’t even know their name/stage name - or even care that much) trying to shock the audience and get everyone to look at them. What a waste of space.

vesuvia · 02/11/2019 17:12

Supporters of drag often try to justify it as gay men trying to escape from the oppression they suffer at the hands of heterosexual men.

Which parts of this particular drag "abortion" performance are trying to show the life experience of a gay man?

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 02/11/2019 17:21

I think they have misunderstood. I think this has come from an assumption that - because women campaign for access to abortion - the logical corollary is that abortion is to be celebrated.

Hard of thinking.

Adogwithabone · 02/11/2019 17:24

I saw this on my Facebook. I was given an abortion as my baby had died but wasn't coming naturally. It was the most traumatic time if my life.

This man is vile. To depict something so awful for entertainment.

It feels personal. Like he's mocking me for what happened.

Isadora2007 · 02/11/2019 17:32

Infanticide? Entertaining?
Violence against pregnant women? Stabbing a pregnant stomach? Halloween fun?
Even without an abortion link- the song was cannibal after all... its still sick and wrong on sooooo many levels.

puppy23 · 02/11/2019 17:55

I've never personally liked drag but always thought hey, its not harming anyone, if others enjoy it, fine. But this is so harmful, disrespectful, and inconsiderate. This thread has really opened my eyes.

WombOfOnesOwn · 02/11/2019 18:04

They really think they're entitled to do anything at all in our names.

Imagine how far those excuses would have gone if someone had dressed in blackface and had a costume with a nod to ways in which black men had been lynched, plus an excuse about how it wasn't REALLY a noose, it was reference humor to some film!

The way people can't even talk about these issues as being even roughly equivalent is so fucked up. "Never compare gender and race." Why, because you'll find every time that race is protected in ways the female sex is not?
