Feminist Laywer Sarah Phillimore

I've followed Sarah, a family lawyer, on Twitter since she offered her vocal support to female victims of childhood sexual abuse in the wake of a vicious tirade against these women. What happened was that a fellow-barrister (whose Tweets are now protected) began to accuse them all of being liars, peddled lots of literature about 'false memory', then attempted to sue (for defamation) anyone who took issue with her. She took to the courts in pursuit of Phillimore, who refused to back down, and lost. The Times newspaper also took that same barrister to task for allegedly making death threats against students.

Fast-forward to yesterday evening. I watched Phillimore engaging in Twitter-conversation with a handle calling itself 'Trans Globe'. She was consistently measured, calm and polite. Her unworthy adversary was consistently sound-bitey, irrational, accusing her of hateful behaviour (she wasn't), cowardice (she was posting under her own name, they weren't), twisting her arguments to 'reducing women to menstruation' (she didn't say this) and ultimately reporting her for misgendering (she didn't refer to a trans woman as 'she', but was discussing simple differences between the male and female sex).

Her standpoint is that she'll willingly respect others' rights to believe in the Gods they believe in, and respect their religion. The same applies to trans ideology. What they don't have the right to do, is make her believe in the same gods, or re-classify her own identity to fit with someone else's version of it.

Sarah expects her account to be gone by today and possibly to follow in the same position as Alison Bailey. If this happens, having witnessed the exchange and not seeing one hint of transphobia but merely respectful disagreement, I'll be contacting Twitter with these observations, and also Phillimore's chambers, in support of her. In fact, I'll be doing the latter in any event.

These women are being incredibly courageous - indeed risking their careers - by putting their heads above the parapet. Hope others will join me.

I am confused about exactly what your accusations are. Are you accusing a barrister of acting on behalf of her client? Or that only certain people should be represented in court?

The smearing of Sarah Phillimore has started I see....

RagingBall · 01/12/2019 01:41

None of these points detracts from the fact that Sarah is standing up to be counted in legal aspects of safeguarding children.

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/12/2019 01:41

Yes. So tediously predictable.

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/12/2019 01:43

My comment was regarding the smearing having started

theflushedzebra · 01/12/2019 01:46

DailyApple has just resurrected three old threads about Sarah Phillimore to post smears about her.

Why are you resurrecting multiple threads about Sarah?

Creepster · 01/12/2019 01:53

Let us play seven degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon, shall we?

Creepster · 01/12/2019 01:54

FYI, the name of your logical fallacy, apple, is 'guilt by association'.

You don't get to tell us to begone Hmm

You've come here, resurrected a load of threads just about Sarah Phillimore, with a load of weird speculation. Why? Some sort of obsession on her?

(ps. we all know why)

Creepster · 01/12/2019 02:04

Troll hunting isn't allowed here, DailyApple.

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/12/2019 02:07

We do indeed know why Zebra

BitOfFun · 01/12/2019 02:09

I am such a fangirl of Sarah, it's positively undignified.

Backinthecloset123 · 01/12/2019 02:40

Gosh it's almost like someone from Prostasia Foundation (paedophilia organisation) has an axe to grind with Sarah.

Interesting reading in this article from about half way down. The whole article is interesting.

Thanks Daily for bringing Sarah Phillimore to my attention.

I'm fairly new to this, so it's great to find out about more women who are willing to stand up for women and girls.

She must be doing something right to have put so much sand in your crack!

theflushedzebra · 01/12/2019 09:37

I don't think it's Mare who is engaging in unsubstantiated slurs.

BarbaraStrozzi · 01/12/2019 09:45

Apple is doing sterling work bringing the awesome Sarah's work to a wider audience. (Admittedly Apple is not achieving quite what Apple thought they were with their little personal vendetta and bumping spree, but hey, ho, goddess loves a trier. Or not, as the case may be. Grin)

BreakWindandFire · 01/12/2019 11:21

Not only has Sarah annoyed the TRAs, she's fallen foul of the Barbara Hewson / Spiked / Revolutionary Communist Party contrarian gang, where I suspect this little attack is coming from.

She must be doing something right to have put so much sand in your crack!

I’m just coming across Sarah due to these threads. Afraid I didn’t know very much about her work before.

Sarah you are awesome!
