Teen Vogue calling women "non-prostate owners"

WTF Teen Vogue?

So, if a man loses his prostate, is he now a woman?

This is from an article about Anal Sex, aimed at teens. I bet there was no discussion of the risks for girls / young women.

Also, WTF have they done with the "non-prostate owner"'s clitoris? Are we to understand that's surplus to requirements?

I'm basically throwing up

For reference, here's the accompanying picture of the "prostate owner".

Of course they should be telling these people about the risks also!

Lost for words.

Velveteenfruitbowl · 14/10/2019 15:00

hardly surprising. I don’t know who writes the sec section of teen vogue but this isn’t the first weird article from them.

SarahTancredi · 14/10/2019 15:01

Wtf

If theres one think teens having sex.amd of course children in general need to know.its what they are , what body is theirs and the associated boundaries.

This is disturbing.

Faez · 14/10/2019 15:02

Is this for real?

TemporaryPermanent · 14/10/2019 15:49

I feel certain that's a parody.

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 14/10/2019 15:51

Has to be a joke surely?

OhHolyJesus · 14/10/2019 15:57

I saw this on FB today. One comment under those pointing out the offence to women:

"Thank fuck you said it!!!! I was about to leave the group because of all the terfs!!! PS am also a non binary uterus having person so was feeling sick reading these comments until yours 🙏❤️"

The inaccurate drawing is one thing (where IS the vagina?), the explanation of prostate cancer is another and why is it being discussed on Teen Vogue? Genuine question, I haven't seen the full article.

OkayGo · 14/10/2019 15:59

Noooooooo?! Why?!?!!

ShagMeRiggins · 14/10/2019 15:59

This is infuriating, whether it’s real or not.

I am sick to death of having my natural body re-framed to suit the ideology of a minuscule percent of the population. If Teen Vogue must align itself with this damaging political activism, the very least they could do is use a part of the female anatomy for some to have and some to not have.

Not that I agree with that either, but at least it’s a courtesy nod to the sex of an overwhelming proportion of their readers.

KatvonHostileExtremist · 14/10/2019 16:02

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 just when I think I've peaked for the day

bellinisurge · 14/10/2019 16:04

My dad had his removed because he got prostate cancer. He was a non- prostate owner.

BarbaraStrozzi · 14/10/2019 16:06

I think this was attached to an article a year or more ago - there was a thread about it at the time. And yes, sadly, it is genuine.

Leaving aside the offensive "prostate haver" and "non prostate haver" shite - has anyone noticed the crucial item missing from the diagram of the "non prostate haver"?

No clitoris!

Yup, that's right - in an article on a sexual practice in a magazine aimed at young women, they have excised the organ responsible for female sexual pleasure.

Bit of a give away, really. If ever anything screamed "men's sexual rights movement", it's that pair of diagrams.

Gingerkittykat · 14/10/2019 16:18

The sad thing is that it normalises this type of language to teenage girls.

Craftycorvid · 14/10/2019 16:25

Well, ‘non prostate owner’ is factually correct on relation to women and men who have had a prostatectomy. You could say men are ‘non clitoris owners’ if you like?

SorryAuntLydia · 14/10/2019 16:28

Wow this is actually real.

www.teenvogue.com/story/anal-sex-what-you-need-to-know

What a load of shit. Literally.

Icantreachthepretzels · 14/10/2019 16:30

But men who have their prostate removed do not then have the anatomy of the 'non -prostate owner' diagram. So ... not that accurate in relation to the article and their labels.

TemporaryPermanent · 14/10/2019 20:42

Fuxache. It's real? That really got published in Teen Vogue?

How is that not a fucking scandal? No discussion of possible health risks, reasons why you might feel pressure to do this even if you dont want to? The 'go slowly' advice is ludicrously truncated. The diagram lacking a clitoris (or labia) is like something I saw in a Catholic sex education guide I saw in Dublin published in the 80s. At least the article does mention the clitoris in the text.

Just feeling depressed now.

veryboredtoday · 14/10/2019 20:52

That article is the most depressing thing I have read in some time. How on earth are they allowed to publish it. Like a teenage boy has the sense to go slowly. It completely avoided discussing the risks involved and I noticed it had to be edited to add details about safe sex.

So much wrong with it.

FemaleAndLearning · 14/10/2019 21:07

Has anyone ever written to term vogue, it's on my to do list after I read this a while ago? Is there any point?

The whole article was extremely coercive. If I was a young girl and that was the advice I would think I was being a prude if I didn't give it a try. My abusive ex was grooming me for anal sex and the language in this article was creepily similar.

Also no advice on what to do if it goes wrong, like persistent anal bleeding or worse.
And of course the lack of clitoris on the female diagram.
They basically say it's fab if you have a prostrate but don't worry if you don't it will still be fun. Why do 13 year olds need to know this stuff. It's all about normalising porn stuff.

teawamutu · 14/10/2019 21:20

Yet another depressing article aimed at persuading young girls to endure sex, rather than enjoy it. Fuck off, Teen Vogue.

DuMondeB · 15/10/2019 01:25

And how would a teenager know whether they are likely to own a prostrate if the words male and female aren’t used?

What a load of bollocks.

Ereshkigal · 15/10/2019 09:47

Fuxache. It's real? That really got published in Teen Vogue?

It's been published about 3 times now in a couple of years, with a huge backlash every time. They don't care. Teen Vogue are awful.
