Do you think being in the EU has made it easier to traffic women for sham marriages?

OP you meanie. Being a member of the EU is an unmitigated good. Which is why there is disgraceful tumbleweed on your thread.

Yes, the free movement of people cannot help but aid the trafficking of women from poorer EU countries to the UK. To say this is not to deny that EU membership has other benefits so it is an issue that should be able to be discussed on FWR. This was a grim story and I'm glad there have been prosecutions.

Despicable people. Really glad they have been prosecuted and the women rescued, though what a harrowing experience for the women that has affected them for life.

Yes I'd imagine it's a lot easier for traffickers to operate using the EU free movement.

I would also hope that being in the EU would enable the police forces to cooperate more easily across countries and capture and prosecute gangs that are operating from different regions.
There really needs to be more efforts from governments to promote awareness of sex and other types of trafficking in these countries and dissuade people from using any 'agents' that claim they can find them jobs and a better life.

I'm not sure it makes much difference for the trafficked. Fewer bribes for some traffickers to pay now than in the days before open borders.
They still have to create the illusion of legality around their "business" just as they did before.
