The replies are virtually all GC
I think the term is "ratioed".

But it's such a horrid Tweet.
"... a homeless or low income menstruator" FFS.
They are talking this way about homeless, vulnerable women.

The ironic thing is they tweet about the stigma of talking about periods which makes menstruation a taboo subject, while they can't bring themselves to mention the word "woman" or "female" because of the stigma!
Woman is obviously such a forbidden word for them.

Ugh. Dreadful.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 06/10/2019 07:13

Utterly dehumanizing language. How do people not stop mid sentence and go, wait, do I really want to describe my fellow human beings this way?

nellodee · 06/10/2019 08:30

You are all showing your bigotry. It isn't just transwomen who campaign for this use of inclusive language. Don't you all remember the hordes of post-menopausal women who used to complain about the use of the word women when selling menstrual products? Don't you? Anyone?

donquixotedelamancha · 06/10/2019 08:57

Weirdly this is a musical duo of two women, but nowhere on their website with dozens of pages about themselves and periods does it say the word women.

How does one get to the point of thinking that any mention of one's own sex is wrong?

VictoriaSpongeAndTea · 06/10/2019 09:04

nellodee I assume you're being ironic as I don't believe any of us recall post menopausal women complaining about the word women being used when selling sanitary products.

Watch them come back with "yeah, menopausers!"

HandsOffMyRights · 06/10/2019 09:37

Agree OP - the irony of calling out stigma and taboo and then deliberately not mentioning the word 'woman'.

Qcng · 06/10/2019 09:38

They actually say somewhere on the thread that the use of language is more respectful to women because "not all women menstruate" ie menopausal women but we all just know it's not about them Hmm...

All their replies are basically digging their heels in believing they're right, despite the offense they have caused to loads of women.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 06/10/2019 09:43

This is a band, yeah? Threatening a boycott might make them see sense. Though having never heard of them I'm assuming that it wouldn't make much difference to their income since their fans will be as woke as they are and nobody else will be paying them for anything anyway.

HandsOffMyRights · 06/10/2019 09:44

Yet there's one word to link those who menstruate and go through the menopause.

I mean this pair, and people of this mindset really are so idiotic they think using the phrase "Women have periods" is exactly the same as saying "all women on the planet have periods with no exceptions" it's not, obviously, but that's the argument they use.

To not actually use the word "woman" at all is them being the "insensitive and medically inaccurate" ones (to use their own phrase).

OP posts:
TheProdigalKittensReturn · 06/10/2019 10:10

So, they've just about worked out that many no longer see being woke as a good thing, but they've totally failed to understand what it means or how it's used as a term.

For our next lesson we will cover the human lifecycle and how changes may occur at various points in a woman's life...
