This looks interesting, opening in Camden in November. I'll be paying a visit:

I prefer the National Gallery. Goya and Rembrandt especially.

will be inclusive of all genders because "not everyone who has a vagina is a woman, and not every woman has a vagina".

When will the madness stop? Men don't have vaginas.

user1474894224 · 21/09/2019 08:12

I definitely will not be going. I have no need to see, discuss, listen too, or otherwise engage in any vagina except for my own. (Oh my goodness just think if the Vagina Monologues were released today it would be a completely different show!!)

stillathing · 21/09/2019 08:14

Would this be the same Vagina museum that tried to smear transgender trend as "transphobic" to close their crowdfunder down? The same Vagina museum that described the phrase "female reproductive system" as trans exclusionary?

A cynical person might say that this enterprise is an attempt to make sure that the market in Vagina museums is thoroughly captured by trans ideology before it has even begun.

You wouldn't want to risk young feminists learning about the female reproductive system from women who also taught them about their boundaries, would you?

EmpressLesbianInChair · 21/09/2019 08:17

The same Vagina museum that invites transactivists who say vaginas have nothing to do with being a girl / woman along to do book signings.

I’m not going near the place.

MrGsFancyNewVagina · 21/09/2019 08:19

Bollocks to that, literally, as the ones who posses of have possessed bollocks will be centre stage as usual.

The museum's outreach programme will encourage healthy and inclusive sex and relationships education.

In other words, ‘we’ll smash that cotton ceiling’. Lesbians will accept cock.

MrGsFancyNewVagina · 21/09/2019 08:24

And if you’ve any doubt whatsoever that it is purely a smoke screen for the push for trans males to access all areas, read this delightful piece.

I think it would be a real shame to boycott a place that is primarily designed for women and girls just because it is trans inclusive.

I will go with an open mind. I cannot imagine this place will have a sinister TRA agenda but I may be wrong...!

It’s not designed for women and girls, if it includes males.

You are wrong. Completely wrong.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 21/09/2019 08:34

a vagina museum that doesn't understand that only only women have vaginas?

sounds shit

won't be wasting my money on that

FamilyOfAliens · 21/09/2019 08:35

Leaving aside that a surgically produced hole is not, and never will be, a vagina, why “celebrate” an individual body part?

JoyceJeffries · 21/09/2019 08:41

Why the hell would anyone want to visit a vagina museum?

bellinisurge · 21/09/2019 08:43

Do they mean vulvas or vaginas? Or do they think these are synonyms?

Coffeeandchocolate9 · 21/09/2019 08:47

This. I've seen it on tour. It's nothing to be afraid of and seems effective at getting teenagers to learn about female reproductive anatomy.

I'm a GC feminist and I think some of the problems with transgender... "ideology" (if that's the word I mean) are that it results in f2m trans people denying their basic biology and healthcare. The Vagina Museum reminds them that they have a vagina, uterus and vulva and normalises knowing their bodies in a body-positive way. That is a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 21/09/2019 08:47

Why the hell would anyone want to visit a vagina museum?

i'm told the penis museum in iceland is well worth a visit

i expect they understand that only male animals have penises

there does seem to be less confusion about that

I'm also pretty sure that the penis museum is not peddling any mystic woo about having a penis making you super special. they've just got lost of info about penises. now that's my kind of museum

MrGsFancyNewVagina · 21/09/2019 08:49

Do they mean vulvas or vaginas? Or do they think these are synonyms?

Well, since they don’t know the difference between female and male genitalia, who knows? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Coffeeandchocolate9 · 21/09/2019 08:57

Before I saw it that was a criticism and worry of mine but rest assured, they absolutely know the difference.

You ARE kidding me?! Penises have more woo attached to them than, well, than you can shake a stick at! I haven't visited it either but I imagine its full of fertility symbols (phallus), depictions of great men with their great penises, and tells the story of mankind's obsession with how mighty a penis is.

Let's not forget that TRAs are all about getting women to accept that men are women if they say so. I'd imagine if TRAs could infiltrate a penis museum and get them to say thay some penises are lady dicks that would be every TRAs wet dream.

Not mentioning the words woman or girl once, not even attempting to, or making a nod at the words, once, in an entire museum about the vagina/vulva is a very, very bad thing which outweighs any perceived positives, actually.

Qcng · 21/09/2019 09:18

That hasn't happened.
The penis museum mentions the words men, boys and manhood a lot. The vagina museum doesn't mention women or girl at all.

vaginafetishist · 21/09/2019 09:20

You've gotta laugh.

Qcng · 21/09/2019 09:24

From the Beeb
Cervical cancer charity Jo's Trust found more than a quarter of 25 to 29 year olds in Britain feel "too embarrassed" to attend a cervical screening
Well, more than half of 25-29 year olds won't need to attend screening because they're not female? So a quarter are embarrassed? Well why would a male need to go in the first place?! Of courses they'll be embarrassed.

They're women Jo's trust. A quarter of women feel embarrassed.

andyoldlabour · 21/09/2019 10:19

"Trans rights campaigner Juno Roche said: “As a trans person I know how much the world is obsessed with my neo-vagina but also how little the world actually knows about my neo-vagina"

Oh my dear lord, just when you thought people couldn't be more deluded. Far from being obsessed with Juno's "neo-vagina" Shock, I rather wish that I hadn't even been made aware of it.

youkiddingme · 21/09/2019 10:27

I don't find my vagina, or anyone else's that fascinating. Or my elbow.
I wonder if they'll have a gift shop..

youkiddingme · 21/09/2019 10:32

Actually I might rethink that. Although that's how I personally feel, as a society we don't often see vaginas displayed unless it is for the male gaze and pleasure. I do wish it was being done where the aim was genuinely to reframe how the vagina is seen in terms of women's comfort, ownership, and esteem with regards their own organ but I doubt that's how it will be.

The use the word ‘cis’ on the website. Enough said...
