Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Easy as PIE – the rebranding of paedophilia (and how twitter is complicit)

(Reading this I should have got more and more angry, but in fact I got sadder and sadder, and felt its hard to belief that twitter could get this so wrong.)

CURRENTLY, there is a growing movement to rebrand paedophilia — a word which in itself is problematic — although it is currently synonymous with people who sexually abuse children.

Twitter currently has a policy which explicitly states that “discussions related to child exploitation as a phenomenon or attraction to minors are permitted, provided they don’t glorify CSE in any way.”
This change in policy was achieved by a renowned expert in the treatment of paedophilia and “Map” advocate lobbying Twitter’s director of trust and safety, stating that it would “help reduce the stigma associated with pedophilia [sic].”

morningstaronline.co.uk/article/f/easy-pie-rebranding-paedophilia?

Survivor of CSE Jacqui Dillon writes about how campaigning against the normalising of paedophilia and challenging twitter's failure to protect young people got her trolled and then band from twitter.

Shock Sad Angry

I wonder if someone should tell her about Spinster?

Too many typos sorry but I’m horrified about what is happening. And how a relatively lefty website made up of nice mummsy women is now somehow portrayed as some kind of homophobic or evil Nazi movement whilst defending genuinely really bad people

Again, going back to the 70s what were then transsexuals did try to align themselves with feminism, but didn't get very far.

And not to the same extent as PIE put forward an arguement about their civil rights.

Its worth noting that whilst people say nowadays you should be careful about what you post on social media as it may come back to bite you, in fact being the signatory to a group statment on old fashioned printed press releases can come back to haunt you.

But as we all know, there is never any fairness or justice. If the mainstream media is on you side you will not be held to account.

Look at Jimmy Saville.

And despite #MeToo, too many women are still being denied justice and male predators are protected by the male network of privilege.

Does anyone think in 20 to 30 years all the pro trans social justice warriors will be getting their comeuppance.

I very much doubt it.

Unfortunately these type of crew never admit to being part of what happened when the narrative shifts. There will be the ‘lessons are there to be learned’ statement.

Such as the Asian grooming gangs. Will be well we should have done better but there were ‘good’ reasons for wishing to opposing Islamphobia. Not many of the people at the councils, local politicians and police seem to be particularly contrite. As far a I’m aware none of have faced any consequences whatsoever

Caucho · 16/09/2019 00:50

Apparently being wrong for the right reasons seems to completely absolve yourself for any wrongdoings. It’s why Antifa activists get a woke pass for being far more violent for the people they are ‘counter’ protesting against. Like when a bunch of sad 20 idiots who either should just get ignored or shamed in the press (they don’t tend to try and disguise their identity) get assaulted by 10 times more warrior types wearing the scarves and are applauded for it.

The world is turning upside down when I begin to have a small amount of sympathy for the ‘far right’ but then that’s an easy label to get these days. The feminist Mumsnet board is far right too.

Saying stand up for women or allowing a small amount of people hosting women’s place meeting at your town hall is far more evil and acceptable than shouting kill all terfs, depicting hangings and posting rainbow barbed wire baseball bats on Twitter

Yes. There will be the ritual handwringing and then the mutual backslapping over the next idiocy will continue on. Cycle unbroken.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 16/09/2019 14:46

And the victims of this are ... repeatedly... children.
Just as children are being targeted now. In plain sight. With the full knowledge and consent of all political parties.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 16/09/2019 15:08

If you're wrong for the "right" reasons you're still wrong, and your good intentions do nothing to protect those who your being wrong harms.

Wow that stumbledin posted article is disgusting as to what happened next. How any government could see it fit to appoint Margaret Hodge as specifically Childrens Minister beggars belief. If most people were aware of such details there would be riots but of course most people don’t or couldn’t if they tried keep abreast of all these stories. Fair play to the Evening Standard but even their campaigning went over most people’s heads at the time including mine. I remember some criticism at the time but not the specifics so was obviously focused on other things at the time like most normal people

Even if such history was not considered a never ending impediment to serving in government (people make mistakes right?) it’s beyond crass to give them a children’s minister position and not some more boring DEFRA or transport type position.

These politicians and their crony party activists just don’t get it don’t they? No comeuppance or anything close to resembling it indeed.

That link re Islington scandal is really disturbing, the top down silencing of what was happening and those poor children. Horrific.
In particular, the social workers who simply didn’t see the problem before their eyes because they didn’t seem to realise these problems could exist! It’s the same now, we seem to have people from privileged backgrounds working for charities supporting people’s rights to wank off in fetish gear in loos, seeing no harm in asking vulnerable children to contact them directly via emails, the woke brigade frolicking with fetishes in the name of inclusivity.
I do wonder if this is a class issue- those in the middle classes taking positions in academia or the charity sector ; who are so far removed from the issues they claim to care about that they are blind to the consequences of their ‘right on’ leanings, who can place such a high value on personal expression and none at all on people who will pay the price. Or maybe it’s just that most people simply haven’t realised the consequences of what is happening.

Safe Schools Alliance put out an excellent Twitter thread on this:

This @MStarOnline article is a must-read for teachers, parents & school leaders. It explores the horrifying efforts to normalise & rebrand paedophilia in society today. #CSE #CSA #safeguarding

^@PeterTatchell’s continuing attempts to influence Relationship & Sex Ed guidelines is alarming. Here, he is unable to recognise Child Sexual Exploitation. Instead, he seems to suggest that sex with adults is a rite of passage for gay children. #RSE #CSE bit.ly/2mbrvLH^

Safe Schools Alliance are also disgusted by the increasing number of accounts on @Twitter which belong to paedophiles who tweet about their sexual attraction to children. They unashamedly use acronyms such as MAP (minor attracted person) and AOA (age of attraction).

It is particularly worrying that these accounts frequently use gender identity jargon (describing themselves as 'cis' or 'trans' and listing their preferred pronouns). Some use the ‘genderbread person’ (a resource used by #Mermaids in schools) as their profile picture.

It is essential that anybody working with children adheres to Safer Recruitment principles and operates in a culture of ongoing vigilance. They must be aware that even those with good intentions may be under the influence of individuals or organisations with nefarious motives.

@Twitter's policy states: 'discussions related to child exploitation...or attraction to minors are permitted, provided they don’t glorify CSE in any way'. Despite the half-hearted caveat, this is appalling & an example of the current normalisation of padeophilia in society.

A society that does not protect children has lost its way. It is time to oppose the normalisation of child sexual exploitation & abuse in the strongest possible terms. #CSE #CSA #safeguarding

We would like to offer our solidarity to @JacquiDillon and thank her for speaking out. We also thank @MStarOnline for their ongoing commitment to responsible journalism. Thank you to @BeckRdAlliance for bringing this to our attention.
