That ‘urgent’ review into unprecedented increase in girls referred to Tavistock?

Still not that urgent it seems. See result of FOI request at the end of this article;

This government will be running scared from any enquiry as once the reality of what has happened comes out they will be considered to be responsible for letting so many dangerous and unsuitable adults have access to our children to gaslight and groom them.
We really need to keep the pressure on to get a proper enquiry started.

Thanks MrsSnippyPants. I suspect that some of the delay is because many civil servants have been sent to work on Brexit but Truth is right that nobody is going to come out of this in a good light. I thought the article was a good summary of the problem too.

This is probably a dumb question, but that article refers to a research tender.

So will a third party be doing this review? What sort of organisations can apply and what are the rules on impartiality?

BadgertheBodger · 06/09/2019 21:35

Just had a horrible thought...what if bloody fucking Stonewall gets the tender 😱 just a bit worrying that there is also an area of investigation which seeks to find out more about the experiences of teens transitioning - seems to me that there might be far too much leeway there for a tiny paragraph, accessible only with a special code, kept in the same place as that Welsh EIA, which relates to the REASONS all these girls might be wanting to transition Hmm

Not a dumb question at all. It will probably depend on which government department commissions this work. They may ask an organisation to do it or advertise the tender. I think tenders over a certain amount have to be advertised but that is an EU rule. It is very unlikely an organisation like Stonewall would have the capacity to do this sort of work. I guess Carl Heneghan and the Centre for Evidence Based Medicine would be the sort of organisation that could do it. It also depends on what sort of work they want. For instance, at one level they could ask the successful bidder to analyse anoymised data from GIDS over the years. It may be a good sign that they have been looking at other countries as we know that referral rates are different in countries that prescribe puberty blockers rarely. At the moment, it’s hard to know the answer to your question until we know more about the tender and how much money will be allocated to it.

Thanks nettie

And that was my concern Badger - that an organisation with vested interests could end up doing it. Rather than one which would view the data entirely objectively and report openly and honestly.

I just hope I am not being too naive, TheBullshitGoesOn & Badger!
However, the current situation with huge waiting lists can’t be sustainable so they will need to do the review properly.
