Number 10 accused of trying to ‘weaponise’ transgender rights in an upcoming election

Okay - so this is Pink News going over the top, but its worth noting how relentless they are in there depiction of trans as constantly vulnerable to uncaring government and hateful terfs!

Even a constitution crisis cant divert them from any opportunity to crank up the victimology of trans activism.

Pink News will never understand how unintentionally hilarious they are.

Which is a shame, because that’s the only thing they’re good at.

AnyOldPrion · 04/09/2019 08:06

I’m not going to click on it, but I’m sure it is tooth-grindingly self-righteous.

Kazooboohoo · 04/09/2019 08:26

They're not "rights", they're utterly unreasonable privileges.

Kazooboohoo · 04/09/2019 08:32

From that Pink News piece:

"[Dawn] Butler said the Tories’ stalling on reforms was a “f**king disgrace” as it led to trans issues being unnecessarily scrutinised by the media."

Unnecessary scrutiny! Nothing to see here, don't stop to think about anything, #nodebate...

ChattyLion · 04/09/2019 10:37

wow- that is a very telling quote from Dawn Butler Shock
Why is scrutiny of a massive policy change of this scale ever wrong? They know full well this is controversial and a clash of rights.
They’re making it look a bit unfortunately like they’ve got something to hide by moaning about ‘scrutiny’- as if informing, explaining, being accountable to people who policy affects, is a bad thing. Do they not want to build public trust in policy? Seems a very authoritarian attitude to complain about a policy you support being questioned. Hmm

Datun · 04/09/2019 10:39

"[Dawn] Butler said the Tories’ stalling on reforms was a “fking disgrace” as it led to trans issues being unnecessarily scrutinised by the media."

That's a terrible choice of words, if you're trying to avoid scrutiny.

littlbrowndog · 04/09/2019 10:42

Let’s keep it secret. No need for anyone to know especially women

Or the press

Do I live in Russia now ?

TheBigBallOfOil · 04/09/2019 10:45

I’m so happy that we have reached a point where members of the opposition feel that effing and blinding is an appropriate way to conduct public discussion. It looks so thoughtful, so professional! It really inspires confidence.

ArcheryAnnie · 04/09/2019 11:35

This narrative of terrible repression and persecution by a group who have achieved corporate capture of, oh, all the major political parties, government departments, statutory bodies, major charities, etc etc, is wearing a bit thin.

Give it a rest, Pink News. (I remember when you were actually a good paper, which sadly is an indication of how bloody old I am, as it was a very long time ago.)

BeMoreMagdalen · 04/09/2019 12:22

As usual, this is total DARVO. The 'trans issue' has been weaponized by AWAs for a very long time now, against women, and particularly women who have the gumption to object.

Complaining at the mere possibility of other powerful voices than the TransActivists using the issues because it will mean that people look more closely at the totalitarian, anti woman nature of this crap takes the bleedin' biscuit.

HandsOffMyRights · 04/09/2019 12:58

Dawn, who is 'DIVA ally' (remember the editor stuck by McKinnon when McKinnon told women to die in a greasefire?)

stumbledin · 04/09/2019 14:08

Soooooo ... it looks like there was an existing thread based on The Times version of this "story" already created" www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3682049-Johnson-to-pitch-TRA-backlash-as-part-of-GE-campaign?pg=1

I find it really hard because I do think identity politics bullshit has lead to a backlash, and the right are befitting. Ben Elton's book, identity crisis, lays it all out; "fiction" of course.

This whole thing, all the bullshit self obsession, distracts perfectly from wealth, as the main reason between have and have nots. Who benefits there then?

I'm so torn, there's so much wrong in trans activism, women have had to stand up. It should never have got this far. It's insane.

What the hell is going on here.

Ereshkigal · 04/09/2019 18:06

Dawn Butler is awful. Can she even hear herself?

TheBigBallOfOil · 05/09/2019 06:19

Katvon I note, though, that the obsession seems strongest among those who have least to worry about materially. To put it more simplistically, those who have real problems to deal with seem less likely to engage with this nonsense.

TheBigBallOfOil · 05/09/2019 06:21

Also no, I don’t think butler can hear herself. I saw her yesterday next to Corbyn, radiating smugness and stupidity as he ran away from the election he’s asked for for three years. The whole labour front bench appears to only exist now to make the other side look better by comparison and remarkably, they succeed.

That is such an accurate description of Butler.

Yes. And others with not much going for them jump on this issue as a means to elevate themselves into righteousness while they berate women.
