Is twitter really deboosting?

Juells · 31/08/2019 16:20

Over the last week or so I've seen numerous people I follow saying that they're being deboosted. I just checked myself and it looks like my account is deboosted. I find it a bit hard to believe, though - I follow just 20 or 30 accounts, and have few followers, why would twitter bother deboosting my replies to tweets?

I'm wondering if this is some kind of scam, that when you use the so-called test it just tells everyone they're deboosted? Just for the fun of it Grin

You claim there is so much hate speech being posted and reposted by feminists that that its understandable we are being silenced. We contest that claim.

No other groups are being silenced in the same way that women are, no matter how hate filled or illegal their post are.

I don't see what so hard to understand.

rollonautumndays · 01/09/2019 01:10

For those wondering why you're deboosted even though you only have a few followers / hardly ever tweet etc, I'd bet good money it's not just what you do, but who you follow and interact with on Twitter.

It's guilt by association.

Spinnaret · 01/09/2019 08:10

I am under no illusions about why it is happening. It is censorship of women's voices and concerns. I am VERY careful about how I phrase my very rare replies, using facts and logic, not emotion. I do not misgender, even if I disagree with this principle. And I avoid anything which could be interpreted as hate speech.

The fact that deboosting is not happening to TRA accounts, despite the hateful language and images used by many against women (see Inebriati's 0030 example), very much evidences that for Twitter it is an either/or situation. They only deboost one side of the debate.

Juells · 01/09/2019 10:22

I have never been warned, reported or otherwise put on the Twitter naughty step. It is purely related to who I follow and very occasionally interact with and the fact that this marks me out as GC.

Same here.

If you're (general your) going to start retweeting or liking on top though certain content, can see why they do

What???? You can see why they censor women?

Yes.

The way around this is not to have a one topic Twatter. Follow a variety of accounts and tweet on a variety of topics. That will help evade the algorithm.

TheAlternativeTentacle · 01/09/2019 11:00

Depends on what you're doing on the GC one surely.

I'm guessing it is 'having opinions without penis'.

zebrasdontwearbras · 01/09/2019 11:23

Having the opinion that a penis is a male sex organ seems to be very problematic on twitter.

This wasn't a controversial opinion just a few years ago. The gender revolution is male dominated, much like everything else.

I follow several political commentators and politicians too, so that doesn't seem to help.

This has been happening for ages hasn’t it?

The system is gamed...like a lot of forums, including here

Twatter is definitely one sided

But obviously some people are going to think thats ok if they feel they are on THAT ‘side’

I like a bit of fairness myself...and it doesn’t seem even handed at all to me

Spinnaret · 01/09/2019 11:38

Likewise Juells.

Iowadunit · 07/09/2019 17:38

If you test your Twitter account and it shows you are Deboosted, how do you get your account back to normal? Or is it always Deboosted from now on?

I think that helps Langcleg. I don’t seem to be deboosted. I don’t do many GC tweets as my account is used for work and I am very identifiable but I am amazed at the number of accounts that have blocked me so I think terfblocker blocks people on the basis of who they follow.

It is centrally important that readers understand that certain neuro-atypical people possess "spiky skills" that make them desirable as assets to intelligence services, criminal networks and tech companies.

Very often such people struggle with feelings of loneliness and being an outsider and in times past would have struggled with their lives generally.

I know a lot about this as I am one of those people. I have moved in cricles where I got to know many similar people very well. At one point, largely through enjoying rave culture late in life, I was friends with a wide circle of tech company VIPs.

Obviously not all people with ASD and other neuro atypical people are savants and geniuses. However when you "march to a different drum" to most other people it can be a relief to socialise with others who are similarly "outsiders".

It is my undertanding that this particular group of people have been targetted by cults and social engineers. Given the usefulness of spiky skills to a variety of actors it would be remarkable had this not happened.

My provisional hypothesis is that it is no accident that so many neuro atypical people identify as trans.

During my years on the rave / clubbing scene where my friendship group consisted primarily of ethical hackers / tech security consultants, internet entrepreneurs and VIPs in various unicorns and internet startups it became apparent to me that most of my neuro atypical friends lived in an entirely different world to most ordinary people.

Obviously they were making a lot of money. Any innovative new tech such as phones and other devices they would receive as gifts in the development stage in order to asses and provide feedback.

There was a lot of drug use, but people seemed to be able to use drugs (it was mostly psychedelics) in order to reflect about algorithms, computing, physics and other issues and suffer few of the side effects that ordinary people experienced (there were a couple of notable exceptions where I knew people who struggled with drug use, one was someone who, although mathematically extremely gifted demonstrated significant manipulative / antisocial/ psychopathic behaviour).

Sexual relationships between people in my then social group were largely unconventional. While some people had monogomous relationships this was not the norm. Open relationships, bisexuality and playing around with gender stereotypes were extremely common.

I drifted away from this social group largely because I could not keep up with the drugs and the clubbing and I did not have the financial resources to keep up with their lifestyle.

During the time I was involved with this group of friends I noticed that several people in my social group were drifting into cults. Sometimes it started with meditation sometimes with yoga, sometimes via a sexual relationship with a cult member.

I have occasionally bumped into old friends at music festivals and other events and their careers have progressed to the point where they are extremely influential people in a variety of settings.

If you are interested in how quacks, scammers, grifters, social engineers etc. have managed to secure so much influence in social media companies and tech companies a good place to start is by looking at the Wisdom2 events

This is a really good starting place

You can use the above link to further explore Widom2 and its links to both apparently reputable tech companies and all manner of cults

The Partners link is also intersting
