Man photographing breasts Bromley area

Please delete if not allowed:
Important note for women, specially in Bromley area:
Last night i went to the Bickley.
I was sitting on a table in the garden and 2 guys sat right next to us.
They were probably in their mid 30s. One wearing a light blue polo T-shirt and beige trousers. The other wearing a tight white shirt.
The guy wearing the blue polo takes the phone out and started taking pictures of 2 girls while they’re having some drinks. Zooming on their breasts, and then sending that to a WhatsApp chat.
I couldn’t even say anything as I was so in shock about what I just witnessed.
Few minutes later the guy takes the phone out again and starts showing the friend more breasts pictures.
I decided to approach him and asked if he knows the girls he just zoomed and photographed. He says no and then I tell him I think is wrong he’s taking pictures of the girls bodies without their permission.
He denies what I just saw with my own eyes, and the friend started getting loud and aggressive with me stating I should mind my own business and leave.
We have some tension and I decided the best thing to do is to inform the manager and leave as it’s very hard to make people understand when they don’t want to understand.
I am sharing this experience for 2 reasons:
1: not sure about the legality of taking those pictures. It might be legal (or not) but definitely is not ethical. And judging their reaction, they were aware of it.
I would feel incredibly uncomfortable and vulnerable if a stranger was taking pictures of me in that way. If you would feel the same way, keep an eye if in the area.
2: the guy taking the pictures had a little girl as a screensaver. The friend went to full panic mood. That makes me think they probably have some wives waiting them at home. And if I was one of them I would like to find out.
Feel free to share.

Ffs, men.

I have to say namalt don't I.

Thing is loads of men do this sort of shit, loads of them.

What did the manager do?

MmmBlowholes · 26/08/2019 12:57

Didn't you call the police?

Catapultaway · 26/08/2019 13:16

Don't think they are technically doing anything illegal so calling police is pointless.

Taking your phone out and taking pictures of them is also not illegal... Wink

CatPunsFreakMeowt · 26/08/2019 13:19

Absolute perverts. Well done for confronting them.

MargueritaBlue · 26/08/2019 13:19

This sets out the law about taking photos in public.

www.blpawards.org/competition/photo-rights

I'm assuming the location was a pub? If so a pub , although short for "public house" isn't a public place. Anyone entering a pub is doing so because the owner has permitted them to be there.

Juells · 26/08/2019 13:21

Wonder what they'd do if you'd start taking photos of their groin area

RiotAndAlarum · 26/08/2019 13:22

Taking your phone out and taking pictures of them is also not illegal...

Tat for tit. Angry

There's no way these pictures are for anything other than titillation. These men are literally wankers, and so are the friends receiving the pictures.

Britfizz · 26/08/2019 14:25

I assumed being in a private place, the owner was the only person who could give them permission or not to take the photographs. That’s why I went to the manager and explained him what was going on.
Not really sure about calling the police. Also the guy showed me his camera roll to prove I was out of order and it was my imagination (I can guarantee 100% he was taking the pics and send them on WhatsApp. I imagine he’s married and deleted them from camera roll so he doesn’t get caught)
The situation made me feel sick I literally had to leave before having an anxiety attack 😡

Upskirting isn't wasn't illegal (law due to be changed or recently has been)

To be a crime there had to be an element of voyerism in a place where privacy was expected. The law did not recognise up a girl's skirt at being a place where she might expect privavy.

Or, public nuisance.

Anyway. Law is not good around sexuality motivated crimes that men commit mainly against women and girls as we all know.

Police, ha. Some people naive.

Landlord otoh may well not want perves ih the pub potentially scaring off women so that would be best place. You said you told managsr what did they say

AgentProvocateur · 26/08/2019 14:38

It’s not illegal, but that doesn’t mean the guys weren’t massive arseholes of the highest order. You could post what happened on the pub’s FB page. I’d like to know if I was a regular.

RiotAndAlarum · 26/08/2019 17:07

Even if you feel awful, you rattled him. This is good!

KatvonHostileExtremist · 26/08/2019 17:12

Well done for speaking up. The guys a creep

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 26/08/2019 17:50

Even if this creep has no consequences for his actions you have made him and his mates fully aware how disgusting their behaviour was. Many congratulations, OP.

MargueritaBlue · 26/08/2019 18:39

It’s not illegal

It probably is unless the owner of the pub had made it clear that as far as they are concerned it is permitted to take photos.
