"I am disappointed with the judgement of the tribunal in my discrimination and unfair dismissal case against Times Newspapers Ltd. Working with my barrister, we are considering an appeal.
To my witnesses and all who have supported me over the past two years, thank you."

Congratulations to the Times and their legal team.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 23/08/2019 09:24

Well that's good news.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 23/08/2019 09:29

Good.

RoyalCorgi · 23/08/2019 09:30

Excellent news. A rare victory for common sense. And well done to the Times for their continued bravery in reporting this issue, in the face of abuse and intimidation.

FormerMediocreMale · 23/08/2019 09:31

Well done The Times FlowersWine

donquixotedelamancha · 23/08/2019 09:34

They're saying that changing the system is going to open the door to lots of dodgy types

Incredible, the Times declining to drop news articles because a regional sub editor says so is not unfair dismissal?

Still, there is always the upcoming case of people who were 'forced' to resign from the Guardian because it published an editorial they didn't agree with. That's definitely unlawful discrimination- they'll surely win.

donquixotedelamancha · 23/08/2019 09:36

Weirdly I've pasted the wrong quite there, apologies.

S1naidSucks · 23/08/2019 09:38

Hahahaha

That is all.

MrsSnippyPants · 23/08/2019 09:39

Very keen to read this judgement, hopefully there will be a link somewhere soon.

Good.

CassianAndor · 23/08/2019 09:47

oh, what a blow, Kathy. Chin up!

zebrasdontwearbras · 23/08/2019 09:49

Good, to be frank, having read the The Times's response to the case, I didn't expect anything else.

I think it's fair to suggest that O'Donnell was not discriminated against, but in fact, opportunistically sued the Times because they objected to the articles the Times has published highlighting the issues with transactivism - particularly the issues with medicalising children. The Times has been really good at reporting this - and the TRA hate it.

LizzieSiddal · 23/08/2019 09:50

Thank goodness for that.

Again, common sense has prevailed. When these cases see daylight, they always do.

MissLawls · 23/08/2019 10:06

This is indeed good news and a victory for common sense. I hope the appeal fails.

SadlyMissTaken · 23/08/2019 10:08

Does anyone have a share token?

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 23/08/2019 10:11

Good. I'd be interested to read the wording of the judgement too.

MrsSnippyPants · 23/08/2019 10:11

19 day hearing!

Yes, I would really like to plough through that Grin

Well I'm so shocked and surprised that someone without a case but with a huge entitlement which has been constantly enabled, has lost this case.

Want to bet the case against the guardian gets quietly dropped now?

zebrasdontwearbras · 23/08/2019 10:27

19 day hearing!

I'm sure it was a fabulous outlet for the narc rage that had built up - I can imagine a lot of time was taken up explaining how stunning and brave, and yet oppressed, O'Donnell was.

Juells · 23/08/2019 10:44

"to be nearer her children"

Confused
ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 23/08/2019 10:52

I wish I could read the whole article as the opening few paragraphs seem to be complaining that O'Donnell, presumably in common with other staff at the Scottish edition, lost their job due to production being moved to London.

If every Scot who had lost their job due to production being moved to London could claim unfair dismissal an awful lot of companies would no longer exist.

I'm really struggling to sympathise given O'Donnell was apparently quite happy to be four hundred miles away from O'Donnell's children when it suited O'Donnell.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 23/08/2019 10:53

Damn, posted before I saw the share token.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 23/08/2019 10:56

Jesus, so O'Donnell was, in fact, offered an equal job and refused?

Boo fucking hoo.

I know hundreds of people who lost jobs due to production moves and weren't offered equal jobs elsewhere. Fucking over-privileged wanker.
