A brand I've never heard of and will not be buying from! Special underwear, presumably to disguise a penis. Article in the Daily Mail (yes sorry!)

Gosh, they are kind of ugly too.

Teddybear45 · 12/08/2019 14:03

No trans women I know would wear something that ugly. They often want to feel pretty and feminine and this just looks like expensive loin cloths.

I wonder why the DM hasn’t specifically said it is to disguise the female penis? Because that would make a lot more people think wtf.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 12/08/2019 14:15

There really shouldn't be a problem with trans adults being able to buy underwear suitable for their needs. What I would have a problem with is anyone sexualising underwear for children.
As there are no images, I'll reserve my judgement. However, in the UK we have the British Retail Consortium's guidelines that ban clothing that sexualises or unduly gender stereotypes children. I would expect children uncertain about which sex they are to have the same protection.

Seems to be a lot of people that are keen to make a profit on what should be, essentially, a niche market.

Packers, knickers....

LikeothersIamjustme · 12/08/2019 14:39

Are they (the adult ones shown in the pictures) supposed to disguise the penis? Cos if so they are failing miserably. They just look like some multi coloured speedos.

Lumene · 12/08/2019 17:03

Agree with truth.

Fontofnoknowledge · 12/08/2019 17:36

Ad their aren't any actual 'trans' children . Just bizarre parents .. should anyone be catering for this ?

IF you have gone through puberty and come out the other side still wishing you were the opposite sex to which you have been biologically determined as A's birth. .. then yes.. by all means bring out a clothing range to cater for people who feel this way.

Fontofnoknowledge · 12/08/2019 17:37

Blush🤭there not their

happydappy2 · 12/08/2019 18:23

There is no such thing as a trans child.....only adults telling confused children they are ‘born in the wrong body’.

This is sexualising children, just like selling a padded bra to an 8 year old-grosse.

PurpleCrowbar · 12/08/2019 18:40

The designer's background is in ballet, right?

Only these just look like dance belts but a bit less...thongy?

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dance_belt

Also, an unfortunately angled background crease in the gauzy gold material swathed round Liu in one photo, makes it appear at first glance as if Liu is having a wee...

Anyway, I really don't think that underwear designed to encourage the idea in confused young boys that their penis ought to be hidden/tucked away/something to be embarrassed about, is a healthy notion.

If adults want to smooth out whatever bulgey bits for whatever reason, that's their business. Fugly pants though.

Coyoacan · 13/08/2019 02:25

I see they are now saying that 1-3% of children have gender dysphoria. That is one hell of a lot, where were they all before the surgery and hormones were available?

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 13/08/2019 03:04

That dance belt article was entertaining. So formal yet, and, I pause for a mement to consider, tongue in cheek. Grin

Also, the idea of “trans” underwear for children is a despicable idea; teaching them that their normal, human bodies are somehow wrong and need to be disguised.

Children need to be running and dancing and chasing dogs or climbing trees, delighting in being young and full of energy and free to move in strong bodies which are their right bodies.

Maybe the Duchess of Cambridge is right. Send them outside, away from screens and social hysteria.
