This story!

www.theguardian.com/society/2019/jul/29/domestic-abuse-victim-to-go-into-hiding-as-ex-freed-after-six-months

I wonder what punishment he’d get if he’d done this to a stranger in the street? Maybe the same, I don’t know.

Christ I remember that story; he only went away recently. That's shocking.

That’s awful, I wish I was surprised. I hope she will be ok, very sad Flowers

The statement that he would automatically be taken back into custody if he harms her again is ludicrous.
She had that protection in the first place. It didn't stop him.

I hope she’s getting some support. He sounds really dangerous. She shouldn’t have been persuaded to accept the plea bargain why would they put her under that pressure?

Really men like this should be made to wear a tag on release and women who’ve suffered like this should get all the support they need in restarting their lives. It is normal for women to have to go into hiding after domestic abuse though, it’s not fair but it’s safer. I had to change my name and move house.

The worst thing, I bet he gets a shit load of support. Ugh.

The sentences for abusers are usually a joke. Society considers the rights and freedoms of abusers more important than the rights of women and girls as can be evidenced by:

'The Ministry of Justice said the law stated that time spent wearing an electronic tag must count towards custody time as suspects’ freedom was restricted.'

= his freedom is way more important than her right to feel safe, actually be safe and actually not be killed.

If he kills her they'll just say 'yeah I guess we should have done more, sorry about that, lessons will be learned.'

Then it will just continue as before as it always has, with 2 women a week killed by a partner or former partner in the UK. Every, single, week.

They don't care.

This is why I no longer date.

The criminal 'justice' system is sociopathic towards victims and survivors of domestic abuse. A complete system overhaul is long overdue.
