Catch 22 Police

HazzaTheOwl · 29/07/2019 12:47

I heard from Humberside and The College of Policing. They argue that their action had no chilling effect on me because, if it had, I'd have been too scared to complain in public.

Because I complained publicly, this means I have brought everything on myself.

They argue that my Article 10 Rights were only broken 'a little bit' and, thus, I'm moaning about nothing.

Also, according to the police's official response, I did all this to become a 'celebrity'; what I should have done, if I complained at all, was to do so with a frightened whisper.

Am I wasting my time? Are these bastards just too big?

So they can try to breach your Article 10 rights but if you point out that they're trying, they're not succeeding so they haven't? And trying to breach them is, one assumes, a good thing?!

Deary me. Catch 22 indeed.

TheInebriati · 29/07/2019 12:50

Take the case but don't expect to 'win' it.

MockerstheFeManist · 29/07/2019 12:54

Catch 22 is not to be confused with MASH, in which Max Klinger wears a dress and lives as a woman to get out of the army on the grounds this madness.

Birdsfoottrefoil · 29/07/2019 12:54

Did you really expect their response to be other than a waffly defence?

While they have disputed the impact on you, have they admitted their behaviour was wrong and they must ensure that this sort of behaviour by the police doesn’t happen again?

Popchyk · 29/07/2019 12:56

You've done a lot already, Harry.

Raised loads of awareness which in turn has raised loads of other awareness. The tide has turned now, and you've been part of that.

Any decision you make needs to be about what is best for you. And your family.

JackyHolyoake · 29/07/2019 12:58

Police engaging in victim blaming here.

"You brought it on yourself"
[Nothing new in that attitude from the arrogant boys.]

Interesting that Police admit to breaching your Article 10 right.

You should proceed on the basis of that admission.

Datun · 29/07/2019 13:01

So because you were able to speak up about them trying to shut you up, they didn't shut you up?

It's playground nonsense.

I'll think you find most people will want you to continue. The resulting publicity about the issue will highlight the problems whether you win or lose. And it's a fairly universal issue - one that people are quite focused on at the moment. It's not confined to trans, women, etc.

But not at any cost. No-one wants to urge you to do something irreversibly detrimental to you and your family. That's only a judgement you can make, Harry.

Procrastinator2 · 29/07/2019 13:02

A muddled response might be good for Harry in the long run. Is this the best they can come up with?

MagneticSingularity · 29/07/2019 13:02

So they’re admitting they intended to intimidate you into silence but because it didn’t work there’s no case to answer? So can attempted murderers use that defense too? “Welp. The victim’s not dead so...”

Datun · 29/07/2019 13:04

And it's a right bloody cheek to insist on protocols where offence is in the eye of the beholder, except in your case, where any 'chilling effect' impact on you is judged solely by them.

Hypocrisy at its finest.

youkiddingme · 29/07/2019 13:05

I don't have a palm big enough.

LangCleg · 29/07/2019 13:08

And it's a right bloody cheek to insist on protocols where offence is in the eye of the beholder, except in your case, where any 'chilling effect' impact on you is judged solely by them.

THIS!

FormerMediocreMale · 29/07/2019 13:14

So they admit attempting ro intimidate you but because you werent intimidated its ok, so now they are trying again.

They are covering all bases in being able to intimidate who they like with that response. If you are intimidated by their actions you keep quiet and no body knows about it, job done. You are not intimidated by their attempts to do so therefore no intimidation took place. Either way they can then carry on regardless intimidating whomever they please.

They need to fuck right off.

Popchyk · 29/07/2019 13:14

The facts are:

The trans cult tried to silence you on Twitter. That's what the "check your thinking" phone call was about.

You spoke up publicly and, in doing so, brought the issue in front of others who were unaware it was even going on.

Might be worth asking the lawyers what the best "value" action would be for the rest of the money.

You could think of it as £25K spent on a campaign to make the general public aware of the tactics of the trans cult and the impact those have on policing. Job done.

Datun · 29/07/2019 13:20

So they admit attempting ro intimidate you but because you werent intimidated its ok, so now they are trying again.

It's a witch trial by ducking stool, isn't it?

If you were really intimidated you'd fuck off and let us continue intimidating everyone else. As you haven't fucked off, you're not really intimidated, so we can carry on, because we're not intimidating.

Get on this ducking stool and let's see if you drown.

JackyHolyoake · 29/07/2019 13:20

Given that police officers rank 7th for psychopaths in the workplace I guess we can't expect them to be very empathic toward the rest of us.

Catch 22 Police
barelove · 29/07/2019 13:20

Surely, it's precisely because of it's chilling effect that you sought to make it public, brought it out into the open so that you had the relative safety of their further communications being witnessed? It's my understanding that you complained publicly because that was the only way to stay safe in such a vulnerable position as having threatening visits to your doorstep?

It's not your fault you've become a 'celebrity' Grin
The story you broke was the kind of thing that gets attention. If the nobs hadn't behaved so outrageously in the first place, you'd still be a nobody!

Great they admitted to breaking your article 10 rights.

ZebrasAreBras · 29/07/2019 13:25

They've made an admission Harry - it is not for them to say whether you found it 'chilling' or not, or to judge whether your behaviour in light of their actions was the "correct" behaviour.

Keep going. You have a case, they have no answer.

Needmoresleep · 29/07/2019 13:27

Push as far and as hard as you feel emotionally and financially able to.

At some point, if they think they cannot intimidate you they will have to seek a view from proper lawyers, not in-house ones. Who may well tell them that they are being stupid and that their policies are questionable.

One of the basic rules of negotiation is that just before an organisation folds, they will give it one last hard, often nasty, push. This may well be where Humberside are at.

iklboo · 29/07/2019 13:27

We're well and truly down the rabbit hole now, folks.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 29/07/2019 13:30

I really want you to keep going. I of course understand if you are finding it too difficult, but that is what they want. Fuck those bastards. Their response is outrageous.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 29/07/2019 13:32

Take them on, kick scream and be heard, be vocal, let people know what is happening, let the public see it, let them hear it.
But no you won't win, it's curruption coming from the highest levels.

Think don't follow.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 29/07/2019 13:38

I’m not clear on what’s happened here

The police have come back to Harry? Could you share the response Harry?

Is all the money spent now? Do you need more to continue (if that’s what you want to do)?

TurboTeddy · 29/07/2019 13:48

They argue that their action had no chilling effect on me because, if it had, I'd have been too scared to complain in public.

If anyone thinks they are correct then Article 10 rights are pointless. What screwed up logic.

Imnobody4 · 29/07/2019 17:52

So if someone tries to blackmail me and I go to the police they're not really guilty 'cos I didn't comply?
Surely an attempt to silence is an abuse of power irrespective of its success.
