A big thank you to mumsnet ...how has it helped you?

Even though my children are now teenagers, I've only recently discovered mumsnet and I have to say it's really helped me to find my voice and inner strength.

I love the straight talking no bs approach taken by this community and the fearlessness that's shown in the face of challenges from government legislation, threats to the definition of woman along with the 24/7 support available from women with a vast amount of knowledge and experience that give their advice freely.

I know to many this is why you're here but to have been somewhat late to the party I still want to big this site up and relay just how valuable and unique a resource it is to me.

As a result of engaging with this site, I prevaricate a lot less and say exactly what I feel.
I also demand a lot more from my relationships as my peer group generally accept crap treatment from their partners ... this forum is a much healthier alternative and as a result I feel happier.

It's also nice to know that if the solid stuff hits the fan there is a network of wonderful women who are on hand to help.

So a huge thank you to all the mumsnet community and I look forward to getting more involved and giving back too.

Women are told that transwomen are more vulnerable, more marginalised, more in need of and more deserving of protection than women. Hence why we should accept the “cis” label amongst other things.

This board helped me realised we can say No.

On the personal side, after my marriage broke down, the relationships board made me realise just how common my ex's behaviour was, as well as how I dealt with it. Talking to other women who were struggling with the same thing and had the kind of insight that comes with time and reflection was worth years of therapy.

When ds was born he refused to latch on for 6 weeks and it helped through a very difficult time with a lot of non judgmental support.

I've made a real life friend (& daughter) through our children's love of performing arts.

And last year when dh was taken seriously ill in the middle of dd's GCSE's and dh didn't want me to discuss stuff/his medical details with people the fantastic ladies of the 2018 GCSE support group helped me though it all (and many of us are still corresponsding).
