I asked Amnesty to amend their page which incorrectly listed gender as a protected characteristic under the Equality Act. This is their reply. It is really a dangerous cult
Dear Alessandra,

Trans rights are human rights and Amnesty International stands unequivocally for trans rights. We live in a society that is more likely to discriminate and commit violence against transgender people, so we are proud to stand with them here in the UK and everywhere around the world.

For trans people having their gender legally recognised is essential to live freely, authentically and openly. We support reforming the Gender Recognition Act, which you can read more about here; www.amnesty.org.uk/we-support-reforming-gender-recognition-act

We dispute your assertion that championing the rights of transgender people affects women. Restricting the rights of transgender people will not advance or protect women’s rights. Our campaigning is based on Amnesty’s research on legal gender recognition in multiple countries and on existing human rights standards. It also draws from our long-standing work on violence against women and its root causes. We invite you to read more about our work on gender identity issues here:

We will have to agree to disagree.

I can’t believe someone on this thread defended them. How is it okay to misrepresent the law?

I imagine it's fine to add things, it's not a direct quote.

What is not fine is taking things out. They have removed sex from the list which is non trivial.

They have things saying help women in Saudi etc all over bring page but within their own org they have decided that no one needs protection due to their sex.

Intetesting and disappointing.

They are very keen on prostitution though so maybe it's not a surprise.

I am not surprised by that sadly. I have refused to support Amnesty for a long time, as I know them to be supporting violent thugs and sexual predators, classing them as political prisoners, failing to do any due diligence to check the veracity of their cases. One example, a guy who sexually harassed women and made threatening phone calls was feted as a victim of injustice after the poll tax riots in Trafalgar Square. His prison sentence was rather lenient given that he didn’t even go there to protest but happened to be drunk in the area and then engaged in mindless violence, injuring police officers. Similarly, violent rapists and robbers were branded ‘freedom fighters’ by some western, clueless, woke do-gooders who did not even do some minimum research. Close family members provided medical care to their victims and were outraged at the blatant disregard for facts and disrespect to victims. Guess, brutalised women are always ‘collateral damage’…

"Restricting the rights of trans people..." isn't what women are asking for, is it? It's for the rights of women not to be ignored and eroded.

They didn’t defend them. They just posted “Good for Amnesty” and fucked off.
