For anyone not following on fb:

*"We are extremely pleased to hear the news, that thanks to the persistence of Child Protection Barrister, Sarah Phillimore, the NSPCC are finally taking the safeguarding concerns raised seriously and have now referred themselves to the Charities Commission. We are watching with interest to see how this progresses.

It is imperative that as a society we prioritise the safeguarding of children at all times. We all have a shared Duty of Care."*

Well done Sarah

Was very happy to see it on Twitter. Imagine what they'd have got away with if it weren't for people like Sarah.

Can we dare to hope that there is someone at the top of NSPCC who realises a charity that supports children in situations where adults are ignoring boundaries to abuse children, might think there is something very rotten in a member of their staff ignoring boundaries and a hundred other members of staff supporting them in doing do?

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 16/07/2019 19:24

Many congratulations to Sarah Phillimore! But it's almost incredible that the NSPCC should have to take such action. And for us to have a number of incidents to choose from when speculating which it might be...

There's LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD's list and then there's the revised guidance that over 10s of the opposite sex shouldn't have to share a bedroom. Now it's OK if both of them have the same gender identity. Fucking insanity.

I do wonder about institutions these days.

Have we been invaded by aliens?

How pathetic that I am hoping this is the case, rather than thinking "of course there is" Confused

My expectations are so low of people n these positions that I am now actually entirely grateful just to have someone not post supportively about how safeguarding is transphobic.

Manderleyagain · 16/07/2019 20:19

Prawn have the nspcc specifically changed their guidence on bedroom sharing?

HermioneWeasley · 16/07/2019 20:23

Well done to tenacious women for making this happen

sakura184 · 16/07/2019 20:53

Thank you Sarah Smile

sakura184 · 16/07/2019 20:56

Them saying their staff was being bullied and therefore their staff was being supported "right up to the chief executive"

LizzieSiddal · 16/07/2019 21:55

Fantastic Sarah, thank you for sticking your head above the parapet.

I’m so bloody angry though that women are having to fight this shit. Why isn't it a given that the safeguarding of children takes priority?
