Am I missing something? I thought the 21 year old ‘age of consent’ meant that you couldn’t have gay sex with someone under the age of 21, not that if you were under 21 you’d be thrown in klinky.

Another good article I agree. I struggle to reconcile the appalling treatment of lesbians with the same crowd are telling us how woke they are.

Gay or straight, a proportion of men hate women, full-stop. That says more about them than anything.

Jeepers the comment from Josephine - trans woman.
“Well as a transwoman of long standing and passing in society as female, I dispute the assertion made here, that most trans females retain their penises. In my case it was the very thing I wanted rid of. As a transwoman, I have difficulty in accepting someone who merely cross dresses as female or even as trans female. That person is a transvestite, no doubt in my mind.

I also dispute the assertion that a transwoman cannot be lesbian or loved by a lesbian. I have been. The fact is that a good number of lesbians are a bit cracked, difficult, promiscuous, appearing to have a sex drive aligned to that of the men in today's Giles Coren column. Not all lesbians are lovely women and why is it that so many have to adopt pseudo male dress and a crewcut. Why not go the whole way and be a trans man?”

Words fail me.

Josephine inadvertently demonstrating every single one of Janice's points.

These type of articles certainly bring all the homophobes out of the shadows.
Shows the selfishness of the movement as they think everything is about them. They really don't care about lesbians.

@Popchyk
Just 5 minutes of looking at some of the twitter reaction shows exactly why Janice's article is so important

nonsenceagain · 13/07/2019 14:51

If you’re reading Janice, thank you!

Very timely article. My DD recently informed me that there are three - THREE! - girls in her class year at her all-girls school that are transitioning to be male. There are just 500 girls at her school and this is just one year so a pretty high percentage. When I asked her how many lesbians there are at her school, she said she didn't know any.

I wonder - How many of those 3 or more girls are just lesbians but living in a society where it seems easier/more accepting to identify as trans than lesbian? And a world where the solution for teen girls who like girls and might prefer a butch aesthetic is to transition?

The comments under these Times articles are such an important additional source of information and clarification.

I actually bought the paper today, the first time ever. I was quite impressed -th were e Some other good feminsit articles, I quite like the menopause one.

Yes! It's like how can I write a comment that is emblematic of what Janice has said here?!

Dead right. What they inadvertently admit about how they view Tuner's article is very interesting indeed. Look at the men who feel they must lecture Turner and the readers on what lesbianism is all about.

The heartening thing is the tone of "shut the fuck up" in the comments. There's an air of panic that the issues raised in the article must not be discussed by anyone with unsafe views.

NewarkShark · 13/07/2019 19:57

Interesting she refers to Megan Rapinoe - I don’t specifically know Megan’s views but I know she’s said to be outspoken on LGBT issues. I wonder what she thinks of this article.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 13/07/2019 20:17

NewarkShark yeah I was wondering... because she’s talked about Trump excluding LGBT before

NewarkShark · 13/07/2019 20:39

Isn’t it sad jessica that now when someone is pro-LGBT, instead of thinking “brilliant, me too” we have to stop to wonder whether their pro-LGBT stance has a misogynistic streak or not.

ahumanfemale · 13/07/2019 21:03

Oh this guy wins. Hands down.
"Lesbians have been around since the dawn of humanity, and there isn't any existential threat to their existence that is unique to lesbians. If anything, being or becoming a lesbian is more popular than ever. I might even come out of my male closet and declare that I too am a lesbian."

Interesting that the contents under Janice's articles are usually supportive of the article. Until she talks specifically about lesbian women and then all the men come out to tell her she is wrong and they know better.
