I've never before known anyone claim that men's toilets are cleaner than women's!

In my experience the women's are messier i.e. Tissue and other 'litter' easily picked up.
The men's are dirtier i.e. Poo smeared on the walls and pee everywhere.

In my experience office toilets for either sex where I work are usually clean. (I’m included in Health & Safety inspections so see both).

Office and pub toilets are very different, not least because the users of the latter are pissed, and usually desperate by the time they get to the loo. Men’s toilets will be knee deep in piss.

Women's toilets are rank compared to men's. For some reason women smear poo and mensural blood on cubical walls, leave dirty pads stuck to things and other such atrocities. The men just have stinky wee.

I might as well chime in.

I’ve cleaned the loos in a theatre. Neither men’s nor women’s were especially bad most of the time. The men’s were a bit smellier, the women’s were messier (lots of small bits of tissue all over the place).

Men's toilets stink. Maybe he's talking about the blood in menstrual products he probably comes across as he's emptying bins.

Postnatal horror story.

On a ward of four mothers recovering from surgery, visitors were not, for fairly obvious reasons, allowed to use the patients' toilet. I remember dragging my self to the loo after visiting hour, my neighbour had had about a dozen family members in visiting, one of whom was an older male who had gone ahead and used the toilet, ignoring the signs. Maybe he was self identifying before it was fashionable.

Anyway, he'd pissed all over the seat, it stank, there was pubic hair. Having just had major abdominal surgery, it's hard to explain how painful (literally and metaphorically) it was, having to wipe up this man's piss so I could sit down, and bleed/weep in peace.

And they should be fit for purpose. Twice as many of them, bigger inside, with proper disposal facilities.

A couple with a sink inside, would be great, too. For those times when you need a bloody sink.

Seems the answer isn't straightforward. I thought men's were worse because a) stench and b) the gallons of piss that seem to be ever-present on the floors and seats of mixed bogs. I've never seen any of the horrors some of you have experienced, maybe I've just been lucky!

I've never found women's toilets that disgusting, apart from a public loo once in a small village in Scotland at New Year, where someone had literally ripped the toilet cistern off the wall and there was water and who knows what everywhere.

Mens' toilets absolutely stink because they piss everywhere.

I used to work in a pub. I'll never forget going into the ladies to collect glasses only to discover a poo in the sink. Unwilling to wait for a stall, they'd hoisted themselves up and relieved themselves. Utterly grim. Agree with the men's urinals reeking too. Drunk men who can't aim straight never helped.

That’s disgusting, but I’m inclined to think it supports the argument for more women’s toilets.

Man here. I’ve never been in a stinky men’s toilet for years I rather thought they were a thing of the past. My local pubs, gym, restaurants and any motorway services always have been clean and odourless. I don’t frequent nightclubs of pubs with lots of drunks and drugs though (Too old!)
