I just shared the article from Fair Play For Women about the Lancaster Pride incident where the group of lesbian women were verbally assaulted.

It’s opened up a couple of friends’ eyes and started conversations.
Unfortunately, a chap who I know and is quite ‘woke’ has commented with the sentence ‘Fucking Terfs’.

Upon saying that Terf is a misogynistic term he replied with “if your feminism excludes trans women then you’re being misogynistic’

Too late now but fucking TERFS could have just been answered with fucking penises and a swift cock block.

The only response to this is if YOUR intersectionality doesn't center biological women then it isn't actually feminism.

Feminism proper does NOT center men (and it can't be called trans exclusionary because it very firmly includes transmen) the clue is in the bloody name. I'm not kidding when I say anyone calling women defending their rights 'Terfs' will be considered a misogynist by me, male, female or identifying as a goat.

I am sorry to admit to it but I no longer share anything about any sort of feminism on Facebook.
I got abused, un-Friended, removed from a couple of totally unrelated groups and blocked after sharing one link to a GC site.
The issue would seem to be that I am friends with, and share many groups in common with, a trans-identifying man and everyone else is so very keen to take the line of 'Oooooh! I'm so woke and cool, I have a transwoman friend'
The constant pressure over several days to publicly declare that Transwomen Are Women' led me to delete Messenger off my phone. Ironically I think 'Lauren' would be cool about it.

I do kind of get that particularly with your mutual friend but I've come to the conclusion if people un-friend me because of this, they possibly aren't people I should be friends with. To be clear, I would expect people I respect who like and know me to ask me about it rather than just react in a knee jerk fashion when they know 'hatred' or whatever they think it is just isn't me, people who know me well enough are aware that I am a thoughtful person who tends to research and isn't afraid of changing my mind - that should be enough for them to at least ask questions. I have had people do that and respectfully disagree with me. Anyone acting abusive or wanting to distance themselves from me are probably people I'm better off without on social media.

I do understand that approach isn't' for everyone and if you are in hobby groups etc. you would want to be cautious. I'm just personally tired of being cautious and tired of being nice.

I don't have many FB friends. I dislike it. I've raised the subject once and one friend was very polite but disagreed.

It's my intention to raise it with her when I next see her in person and have a proper conversation about it.

Agreed, the only time I have discussed it in depth is via messages not on my newsfeed with people who now live far away from me. Face to face is much better.

I bet he thinks he is the exception and is not "transphobic" but would not consider a trans woman as a partner, that would be different. So a group attacks a few lesbians, and they are the oppressed here, the world has gone mad.

An acquaintance of mine on Facebook who, ironically I met at an abortion rights march, commented the other day about friending someone then finding out they were a “fucking terf” and not being able to unfriend them quick enough.

My fb is super bland so she clearly hasn’t realised i, too am likely a “fucking terf” by her lights, and I’m debating whether to enlighten her, possibly using that Helen Lewis article. It’s hard to know whether I can be bothered to expend the emotional energy, but then it also feels a bit cowardly not to.

Her child is identifying as trans, so on balance I think that no good can come of it, but it doesn’t sit right as I generally don’t ditch friendships over differences of opinion - I like plurality of views around me.

Bearing in mind what others have already said about the possibly greater impact on those watching from the sidelines, as well as putting woke-bloke's head in a bit of a spin, QueenArseClangers , I think I would be tempted to retort along the lines of,

"You realise you don't speak for all Transwomen? Some would find your views very offensive and extremely unhelpful. Educate yourself and try listening to transwomen who have enough insight, empathy and intelligence to see things from the point of view of men, women and transwomen. Just two examples: Seven Hex's "To Men" and Fionne Orlander's video .
