A very powerful piece of writing

Thanks. Helpful.

littlbrowndog · 09/07/2019 20:34

Yes neuro. So glad she didn’t have double mastectomies
Imagine some doctor doing that to,a 13 year old girl

A child who, can’t smoke drink drive a car
Bu5 can have a double mastectomy

It’s truly shocking

NeurotrashWarrior · 09/07/2019 20:37

I'm amazed she didn't. It's not clear if she took any hormones etc, but I do wonder what helped her to realise she was a lesbian?

Is this what Mairi black sees for girls in Scotland. After all let’s not be cunts

Apollo440 · 09/07/2019 20:40

That's a great article
If only “LGBTQ” institutions and media would start teaching people that we need to expand our idea of “girlhood” to include buzz-cuts, toy trucks, worms, digging and spitting, and stop intentionally conflating the words ‘sex’ and ‘gender.’ If only they’d teach people that ‘gender’ is just a hierarchy, a set of roles and expectations, positioning women as objects for male consumption. That lesbians have a long history of flipping off the rules of ‘gender,’ and we do it long before we even understand what it is we’re fighting against.

NeurotrashWarrior · 09/07/2019 20:44

It absolutely is.

It's sadly the de transitioned who will shine a light on the homophobia and abuse the trans cult creates for children.

Is her father the R. Kelly who is being pursued for statutory rape? (or am I mixing that up with someone else?)

Just thinking, having a father like him would probably cause a lot of trauma, and trans does seem to be a response to trauma in young girls.

NeurotrashWarrior · 09/07/2019 20:46

'Well, aye' littlebrowndog.

NeurotrashWarrior · 09/07/2019 20:48

I think it is Sonic but it says she's asked not to be called "r Kelly's daughter" - but yes, I've also wondered about the impact of being related to such a person.

OP posts:
TemporaryPermanent · 09/07/2019 20:49

Absolutely sonic. The pattern from many publicised stories seems to be an abusive homophobic father and a homophobic mother who is weak in the relationship. But who knows. It would be great to have factors leading to gender dysphoria researched more.

TemporaryPermanent · 09/07/2019 20:50

And I've just realised that was a shit post. I guess I mean it us one strand in one type of gender dysohoria. But anyone is free to report that post. Not my finest moment.

stillathing · 09/07/2019 20:55

Yup every "gotcha" story I've read, about how the parents knew their really young child was trans, contains homophobia and sexist stereotyping. You'd actually think either the parent or the journalist would have the self awareness to try and disguise it a bit.

NeurotrashWarrior · 09/07/2019 20:56

Sorry brain on slow this eve, yes it is and you tube informs me she's written a rather damming song about him.

OP posts:
NeurotrashWarrior · 09/07/2019 20:59

It would be great to have factors leading to gender dysphoria researched more.

It would be great, shame it's quickly stamped on and academics are vilified.

OP posts:
NeurotrashWarrior · 09/07/2019 21:02

Temporary, yes that could be one strand, certainly a few stories I've read have those elements.

There are many factors though. Even just not seeing women who are gender non conforming, or as Julie Bindel wrote recently, butch lesbians can impact self image if you are surrounded by hypersexulised femininity.

So sad and so brave to write about her experience.

It breaks my heart to think about all the youngsters being pushed down a route causing permanent damage. I understand her not wanting to be linked to her father but his fame/infamy gives her the opportunity to reach audiences far beyond most people. Her story has the potential to reach confused and vulnerable young people who are questioning themselves, if she can even make one stop and think its so worthwhile.

NeurotrashWarrior · 10/07/2019 19:57

So so brave.

I know TJ won't mind me sharing her story here as there are some parallels around not "fitting in" and not knowing about lesbians.

Poor girl. I'm glad she made it through. This terrifies me.

hoodathunkit · 11/07/2019 18:47

Brave girl

I cannot imagine what she has been exposed to as K Kelly's daughter

Hopefully R Kelly will soon be going the same way as Keith Raniere and, hopefully, Epstein.

Seems like law enforcement stateside are wising up to the modus operandi of these disgusting predators.

The theory is that the people who were in positions of power to previously block prosecutions of powerful people have been removed by the Trump administration. Rank and file officers were gathering evidence but when they tried to prosecute cases they were warned off and blocked. Hopefully this signals an ongoing trend to try and get justice for the victims.

FormerMediocreMale · 12/07/2019 12:12

Whatever the reason for the powerful no longer having immunity I hope they continue to catch and charge, the victims most definitely deserve justice.

magicstar1 · 12/07/2019 12:32

What a great article. This part totally resonated with me: If only “LGBTQ” institutions and media would start teaching people that we need to expand our idea of “girlhood” to include buzz-cuts, toy trucks, worms, digging and spitting, and stop intentionally conflating the words ‘sex’ and ‘gender.’ If only they’d teach people that ‘gender’ is just a hierarchy, a set of roles and expectations, positioning women as objects for male consumption. That lesbians have a long history of flipping off the rules of ‘gender,’ and we do it long before we even understand what it is we’re fighting against.
I was that girl with a buzz cut, playing with my favourite dump truck etc. Now I'm a married woman with long hair, but a biker, who wears men's clothes if I want, and doesn't conform to gender stereotyping.
I just hope she's happy now, and that the same thing doesn't keep happening to other women out there.
