I know I'm not the first or last GC to be banned..

I don't know why I've been banned - for which Tweet specifically. I think it was in response to a numpty who claims to be a PhD student (in a Science) claimed 'most women are not actually women. TW are not men'

I asked in both cases then what are we?

I don't even know if I can be bothered to appeal (I don't know what my crime is) I don't want to give a phone no. after previously getting lots of weird calls and when I go to the appeals section it talks about Google capturing all the info.

There is another place I know of. I signed up previously but haven't posted yet. I may just hang there with other banned posters and MNetters.

Better off without it.

It's basically a nest of vipers on a site apparently designed for children by somebody on LSD.

As far as I can tell..

TwittyBan · 27/06/2019 07:40

I have been spending too much time on there.

Horrified by the amount of paedophilic posts and organisations that gleefully post pictures of fetisthists with children at Pride etc.
These posts remain.

But then I wanted to add my voice to oppose this.
Oh well, my voice has been added to the well with all the others...

Might get me more active IRL, writing letters/emails that may have more impact than Twitter.

I deleted my account. I don’t see the point in being on there anymore. It’s just shouting into the void due to all the blocklists. It’s also a place where people jostle for position within feminism (like we bloody need a hierarchy) and men like to set the tone. It’s not useful or worthwhile imo. It’s also a time sink.

GC accounts get suspended/banned/reported for all manner of minor infractions when porn and paedophilia is allowed to stand. I think that tells us exactly who twitter is run on behalf of and I don’t think I want to mix with them anymore.

I agree. It's definitely a drain in my time and mental health too.

I will miss the messages side though. I was in a couple of GC groups and it was good to be able to compare notes, but we have MN for that. I need to get out to some meetings and meet posters in the real world though.

Could this ban actually be my liberation from the cesspit?

I disagree I think that if you ignore all the idiots you can actually make a difference with regards to ordinary people and celebrities. The weight of gender critical voices now replying to politicians and to companies promoting trans agenda I think is quite persuasive and has worked to change things for example in the case of the NSPCC.

TwittyBan · 27/06/2019 11:39

I feel guilty I can't support those voices, although today (on my day off) I've managed to complain to the BBC re its continued bias - something I might not have done otherwise.

In between enjoying some sunshine.

I had a security breech a few weeks back, someone logged into my Gmail on an unrecognised device, a day or two later my Twitter page was deleted and password changed without my doing so. I didn't bother getting it back, as I was far more concerned with more sensitive data being compromised, but I do wonder if whatever caused the initial problem was to do with my Twitter above anything else. I had heard of pages being deleted without warning before.

TwittyBan · 27/06/2019 14:08

That's frightening. Last year when I first joined Twitter it said it had problems loading the page and required a mobile.

Over the next few days I received numerous silent calls daily from different mobiles. I called each one back (some were dead nos, some no answer) and texted.
I complained to Twitter about my data.

Then it stopped. This is why I'm reluctant to hand over my no. this time (though they've probably stashed it somewhere!)

When I was forced to give twitter a mobile phone number I ordered a free pay as you go sim card online. Took out my real mobile phone sim card, inserted the new one, loaded a fiver onto the new card and gave the number to twitter. Once they had confirmed the number I put my real sim card back into the phone.

I have also found the PAYG phone number handy for those infuriating websites that insist on a mobile phone number when you order anything from them. I don't even bother putting it into the phone, just write in the number on the order form if it won't take my landline number.

Thanks. Worth bearing in mind. I need a burner phone like Line of Duty.
