Well done this kid, whoever he is. I'd be so proud if he was my son.

Also note the line at the end of the article by MSN about working to help get more women into sport.

I'd be proud if he was my child too.

He's not expressing hate or intolerance just his opinion. How very uninclusive of the school

Bluerussian · 23/06/2019 13:11

He was telling the truth, I daresay others agreed but just didn't say.
How awful that he was kicked out of class.

This is all going too far, there will be a reckoning and about turn soon I think.

Debenhamshandtowel · 23/06/2019 13:24

Well done that lad. It’s very hard to stand up to authority at any age. To do so at such a young age, in such a calm manner, against so many levels of hierarchical nonsense is something to be proud of.

Piccalino3 · 23/06/2019 13:51

The world has gone mad and well done to this boy. Hopefully more people and young people will feel they are able to stand up to this madness!

2BoysandaCairn · 24/06/2019 04:06

Actually the child would be expelled from our sm local comp, as he would from any other comp in our neighbouring two authorities.
He secretly recorded a teacher. Instant expelled from all local schools.

It is a massive trust issue, would you support him if he videoed a female teacher and posted to youtube for kicks or secretly videoed other students to harass them.

It is illegal to video and post school lessons, without consent of the school, the teacher involved and any other child involved.

So he should be suspended. Subject matter doesn't change the rules.

FeckTheMagicDragon · 24/06/2019 04:29

Subject matter doesn't change the rules.
Rubbish! It does absolutely change the rules. If a child was being abused would it make a difference if they taped it? Even if it was ‘against the rules’ ? Of course it would. If it was a whistleblower at work protesting illegal behavior?
Sometimes the ‘rules’ need to be broken. This is such a case. That teacher was wrong.

Datun · 24/06/2019 04:36

Agreed. A teacher, not only teaching kids a reality denying ideology, but punishing them for questioning it, needs all the exposure it can get.

happydappy2 · 24/06/2019 09:45

I understand the school policy of not allowing teachers to be secretly filmed, however, in this case the student was using the footage as evidence of the totally illogical rubbish the teacher was saying.....I don't think the pupil should be suspended for 3 weeks-they will lose 3 weeks of education, that benefits no one.

Beamur · 24/06/2019 09:54

My DD saw this and pointed out that there are 2 sexes and gender is a construct.
I think the kid was brave to stand up to the gender brainwash but filming the teacher wasn't right.

Bluerussian · 24/06/2019 18:39

I agree with Datun. It's scandalous to exclude a child for stating their opinion (or HIS opinion in this case).

Datun · 24/06/2019 19:31

Filming teachers is not something I advocate or endorse and is something that should be frowned on, generally. And I fully respect the teaching profession. Not to make a generalisation, but I do think it's a tough job.

But when a teacher, apparently through their own volition, starts hammering home a belief based ideology, and then punishes someone for challenging it, it needs to be exposed. I have no doubt.

If a teacher was claiming that the Earth was flat, I would have the same opinion.

3timeslucky · 24/06/2019 19:41

Is the suspension for arguing or for filming?

Suspending a pupil for holding a different view is more than a little worrying. Suspending a pupil for filming is to be expected.

Slightly OT but I wish he had used the term "sex" rather than "gender". It makes his argument clearer. It is (still) widely agreed that there are two sexes. And he could most likely have used a science or biology text book to back up that assertion. Which makes me wonder, what do they teach in science in that school?

AlwaysComingHome · 24/06/2019 19:48

It is a massive trust issue, would you support him if he videoed a female teacher and posted to youtube for kicks or secretly videoed other students to harass them.

Yes, because they are totally fucking different. You might as well have asked would we support him if he’d stabbed someone.

AlwaysComingHome · 24/06/2019 19:50

Slightly OT but I wish he had used the term "sex" rather than "gender".

There’s a good chance he’s never been taught the difference, given the apparent level of teaching at the school.

PreseaCombatir · 24/06/2019 20:09

Good for him.
How can you expose people without proof?

Do you think if he just told his side he would be believed?
Mumsnet worries me sometimes, this blind following of rules.
Women would never have any of the rights they have today, if women hadn’t been brave enough to break the ‘rules’.

2BoysandaCairn · 24/06/2019 22:15

Good god.
On starting our comp all students and parents have to sign a phone and internet contract.
It clearly says any student who films a lesson or teacher or fellow, without permission, will be immediately suspended.
Leading to the school expelling the student if proven.

No expections.
If he wanted to complain that for his parents. Not a teenage kid to film.
Let him off, when a kid videos miss bend over, how do you suspend them.
They just say you didnt for that kid who was told off.

Whats he going to do if it happens at work.
Video that too. He get the sack or in some jobs beaten up.

I despair with GC feminists, you throw everything out with the bath water.

Datun · 25/06/2019 05:06

You need to separate out the two issues 2boys.

Suspension due to filming. And exposing the brainwashing of kids.

The first pales into insignificance when compared to the second.

Let him off, when a kid videos miss bend over, how do you suspend them.

Quite easily.

IAmAlwaysLikeThis · 25/06/2019 05:16

Filming for sexual reasons is obviously different to what is, in my opinion, whistleblowing.

What is school if we can't even have a debate any more. I remember talking about gay marriage, many were against it and that was fine. They didn't use bigoted language, so whats the problem? Not my view but others are allowed an opinion. Do we really want to go down the path of not allowing debate?

Everywhere I've seen this, every comment has been gc. I think this will be a wake up moment for many wokenistas that their bs is not accepted by everyone.
