The engineer, who represented himself in court, donated his damages to the Young Women’s Trust, which aims to help women negotiate for better pay and male mental health charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably).
I think it's a shame he did it, though fully in his rights, but I don't get the impression he's a total arse.

Dr Bower said he ‘does not deny the existence’ of the gender pay gap, but said there should be equal opportunities over equal outcome. In all fairness I see many women, especially lib-feminists argue this, though I counter with if the outcomes aren't equal then the opportunities aren't really either are they? Unless you believe women are intrinsically less able and the work they do intrinsically worth less.
The campaign was ill thought out, though well-intentioned.

The judge makes me want to spit. Judge Phillips awarded Dr Bower £1,000 in damages after saying he would have felt ‘humiliated’.

I don't know. I think maybe the fact os that there is never really total equality of opportunity. As I woman, I have the opportunity to get pregnant, which no man does. Is there really any way to balance out that difference? It will always put a different set of choices in front of me, even if we have things like parental leave and formula and birth control. By the same token men on average are going to more often have the opportunity to do certain types of very physical work, firefighting, the infantry, some kinds of construction work. That's a set of opportunities that won't be there for women as often, and not much to be done about it.

I'm not convinced there is only one way to think about those differences without being anti-woman.
