Teachers to be trained to spot early warning signs of mental health issues - what about ROGD?

Not sure if anyone else has talked about this yet. I'm not the cleverist at thining things through so would appreciate other's thoughts. I read this article on the BBC News Theresa May calls for mental health to be priority And wondered how this fits with gender disphoria and ROGD . I mean, will this be included in the training that the teachers are going to be undertaking? I think it is a significant mental health issue and is increasing. Your thoughts and analysis please.

Not sure if anyone else has talked about this yet Probably because emost teachers are in that GCSE come down period and haven't got the energy to shout FUCK OFF at the thought of more non teaching training and more responsibility and blame on their shoulders.

It sounds good, MH needs to be prioritised, given more ficus and more funding. But this, this dumping of such an important issue onto teachers, already overloaded with a tonne and half of non teaching crap won't do anything for anyone, well, it could increase the MH issues of a number of teachers!

Shoving work from one over stretched area of public fnding onto another overstretche area of public funding really is NOT a good thing, not a problem solved.

As for a fucking competition in Universities to imagine up a good idea, bloody hell!

Sorry. But sucide preention trainign for staff in the NHS... those same staff who are already overstretched and underfunded... HOW??

If your restructure consists of moving shit from one busy professional to another then your fix is crap! Soundbite bollocks - and needs to stop!

Apologies, but this has been annoying me for a while!

At a local state school I visited recently, they had this scrolling at the bottom of the TV information screens.

" Article 17, government must help protect children from material that could harm them."

How on earth does that fit with telling kids they're born in the wrong body & should swap sex?

Thanks for the information and analysis CuriousaboutSamphire , I take it you are one of the teachers who is going to have this added to all the other stuff you have to fit in? How do you feel (capacity issues aside) about the disassociation between being trained to spot Sign of Mental Health issues with teenagers but then turning a blind eye as it were to students with gender queries?

happydappy2 that's just the sort of disconnect that came to mind. I mean, what are teachers supposed to do when they have a student in front of them who they can see is going down a route that is potentially harmful to them, and used to be classed by WHO as a mental health condition?

I think child mental health is extremely important and currently very concerning. One of the main reasons I see a lot of kids with mental health issues is because of the stress caused by the current school curriculum, exam pressure even in primary school, reduction of time for subjects like drama and music. I find it ironic that the government who has caused these issues is now telling us we have to learn how to spot mental health problems.
Sorry I know that's not what you're asking about but I needed to get it off my chest!
