With regard to the GRA, I have had many discussions with people and experts on all sides of the debate and will continue to have those discussions as we move towards any vote in Parliament. I include the Labour Party statement below:

“As a separate policy matter, the Labour Party is committed to reforming the Gender Recognition Act and the Equality Act 2010 to ensure they protect trans people. We will formulate more detailed policy to achieve that goal – whilst maintaining important safeguards and protections for all women, including vulnerable women – and we will consult with women’s organisations, LGBT+ groups and other stakeholders during the course of that process.”

and we will consult with women’s organisations
Shock
!!
Doesn't that make the LP horrible transphobes?

I can't help but think "women's organisations" will be quite a selective few that are of a certain "inclusive" sort ... But at least there's hope.

I mean if there CAN be a balance found between what's good for trans people whilst protecting women's services etc, brilliant. They've got their work cut out.

^ sorry I quote marked the word "inclusive" because it's usually a euphemism (to mean anti woman).

I'm not trying to say other feminist groups are not inclusive. Just to clarify.

TheInebriati · 18/06/2019 12:30

All they have to do is make mens services and spaces mixed sex and all inclusive, and keep womens services and spaces for women.

The resulting chaos will demonstrate they are demanding the impossible. You cannot have a safe, fair and just society that gives equal legal recognition to both sex and gender.

I wrote back asking which groups ,which experts , which stakeholders?and mentioned the consultations where "wrong"answers were discarded. I also asked if they considered TW to be women. But I really don't think the Acts need reforming except to remove any ambiguity.

Hi OP, can we find out which women's organisation will be consulted? We know that WEP and WPUK for example have very different positions.

I'm sceptical that any discussions with women will be with a range of organisations and will probably just with the ones that agree that TWAW.

In short, the MP is saying:

"I don't have to answer your questions because there isn't a bill to change the GRA, going through Parliament."

Angryresister · 18/06/2019 14:26

OHJ yes I asked that...will be interesting to see his answer. This is an MP in a woke city in the north....so I have some idea...
