I read through the misconduct hearing reports frequently, partly because it used to be my job to investigate it (I worked directly for the decision maker in this case and he is a very experienced man, he has seen all sorts). We sometimes have press at these hearings, but I've noticed that it is mainly the big media cases where there has been hate speech or financial misconduct that attract press attendance, not where pupils have been harmed directly. A cynic would say there are so many cases of inappropriate relationships/paedophilia dealt with by teacher misconduct that the press would never be away from the office, but that doesn't make it right. I would say that a large proportion of cases I investigated were inappropriate relationships or abuse.
