"This is article I of CEDAW. It covers all discrimination against all women. There is no need to add in "and gender" other than to try to shoehorn men into women's rights protections (and confuse and undermine and gaslight everyone about the very clear intention of the convention)"

Interesting thought ... the attempted replacement of sex in law with the indefinable concept of "gender identity" constitutes a breach of the human rights of women all over the world.

What we really need is to challenge this at the highest levels. We have rights. They exist in very clear law. No other protected group would be expected to not only allow but celebrate their oppressors identifying into that group, stealing their resources, using their power to physically and sexually assault them, and then recast themselves as the victim! It absolutely is a breach of our human rights.

The AWAs are ahead of us n this by miles, and their clear tactic is to cause as much chaos as possible so we're tied up putting out fires. Going org to org trying to correct equality statements, trying to enforce safeguarding, mopping up after attacks on our meetings. It's all about keeping us busy and distracted while they have more quiet talks behind closed doors.

We need to get ahead of them. We need to rip this thing out by the root. But I don't know how. How do you challenge a human rights breach this big - especially when the UN and EHRC all seem to be behind it?

Is anybody going? Any idea what the tickets cost?

Totally agree. CEDAW is LAW.

It also specifies requirements for data reporting etc by sex.

It also wants the elimination of gender stereotyping so this has benefits for women and men.

Wish I could go.

Sheila Jefferies talks a lot about this. She mentions it in this talk held in London last year
