..the name difference between the 'boys' and 'girls' version of these bathrobe thingies really annoyed me

How weird! Why can’t both be a throw on? Why baby girls need to ‘cover up’ is baffling.

elibee · 19/05/2019 22:29

Exactly!

More of the same bullshit. Whenever I spot stuff like this I make a mental note not to buy from the company.

TheInebriati · 19/05/2019 22:50

You're not overthinking it. In any case I don't understand why they have to be gendered for babies and toddlers. Unless thats just how important it is for strangers to be able to tell the sex of another person at a glance.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 19/05/2019 22:52

I must be a boy - I love the hippos!

ILoveMaxiBondi · 19/05/2019 23:02

Well, they aren’t actually described as “girls” and “boys” items, but I’m guessing the flowers and blue colour are the “directions” for which sex should wear them.

Agreed though, why different names for them? I’ve never heard of them being called a “throw on” before. It’s odd.

Primark had plain, single coloured shorts for babies all labelled as being for baby boys. The ones labelled girls were all frilly and fussy mainly in pink.

Because obviously baby girls should wear frilly pink shorts instead of the turquoise, blues and greens that are just for boys Hmm

FloralBunting · 20/05/2019 10:32

Because girls are primarily decorative. Boys need to learn early on that clothes should be primarily practical because they should be concerned with other things. That's the essence of the system of Gender and why none of these seemingly inconsequential things like baby clothes and toys are meaningless. They are all part and parcel of cementing the system.

I've said it before, but noticing this stuff isn't over thinking at all - it's a vital piece of the puzzle because we are like fish who don't know they are wet because we are so immersed in Gender.

Yeah...you’re not over thinking it

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 20/05/2019 10:39

not over thinking it

girls cannot be careless with their clothes, they would never wear a 'throw on'

plus they need to cover up

really boden. glad I didn't use the £10 voucher they sent me this week now!

Mumfun · 20/05/2019 10:43

really good to call them out on this.

Datun · 20/05/2019 10:48

You're not overthinking it. It's insidious.
